Position Summary
We are looking for a Research Mentor to guide high school students through the process of developing independent research projects and publishing their work in high school journals. This role includes delivering online lectures, supervising writing and experimental work, and helping students gain publication opportunities. The position is fully remote with flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities
Deliver lectures or mini-courses on academic writing, research design, or specific disciplinary topics over Zoom.
Mentor students through the complete research process—from topic selection to methodology, drafting, and final revisions.
Guide students in conducting original experiments or literature-based research, depending on the subject area.
Provide close support in preparing academic essays and research papers suitable for submission to high school or pre-college academic journals.
Write persuasive letters of recommendation based on students' research performance and academic potential.
Qualifications
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a relevant academic field (STEM, social sciences, humanities, etc.).
Prior experience supervising high school or undergraduate student research.
Strong academic writing skills and familiarity with academic publishing standards.
Ability to teach and communicate complex ideas in a student-friendly manner.
Familiarity with the high school academic research landscape and common pre-college publications is a plus.
Pay: $80.00 per hour
