Replacement Upvc Door Handles It's Not As Hard As You Think
Replacement UPVC Door Handles
You can find the perfect handle for your door, whether you are replacing your existing handles or adding additional security. These upvc handles are easy to fit and comply with the required 92mm centres for multipoint locks.
The backplate fixing centre and the lever/keyhole dimensions are the most important measurements. Check these carefully against your existing measurements prior to placing an order.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad handles are made up of a lever on one side, and a paddle-shaped handle on the other. They are designed to work with key wind locks, although they can also be used to split spindle multipoint door locks (though you'll need a separate dual spindle lock case).
Our range of upvc handles lever pads are available in a wide range of finishes. They will be listed in the drop-down menu after you have identified the perfect handle for your door. Not all styles of handle are available in every finish and you should always look over the sizes and technical drawings for the specific product you are looking to ensure that you are getting the right size and fit.
When selecting new upvc lever pad door handles it is crucial to make sure that they correspond to the PZ (distance between the spindle of the handle and the center of the cylinder hole) of your existing multipoint door locks, as these need to be in line to ensure that the doors remain locked, either from the inside or outside. Our handles are designed to fit the majority of standard cylinders, but it is a good idea to double-check before ordering.
You'll need to remove the handles on your current handle and remove the lock case if upgrading to dual spindle handle levers since this will require an additional split inline cylinder. They can be purchased separately and we offer an entire technical diagram that you can look at in the images for each product.
Once you have removed the screws that hold the door handle you have, it is an ideal idea to loosen them, and then inspect the mechanism to determine the condition it is in. If the screws aren't tight enough it is possible to loosen them even more. Then repairmywindowsanddoors can remove the spindle from the door handle and replace it with a new upvc handle. Before putting the handle in position, it is recommended to make sure it is in the correct position. You can do this by placing your finger into the gap between the frame of the door and the handle to make sure that it is level.
Lever/Lever
The lever handles on doors are used to operate a multi-point lock using the Euro cylinder. They are found on a variety of double upvc doors as well as some wooden and aluminum doors. They are equipped with a lever inside and a paddle on the outside and are typically available in two types. Sprung - They have a spring cassette installed within the backplate to help bring the handle lever to the horizontal position. Non-sprung - they do not have a spring mechanism, and will require manual pulled to raise the handle lever back to its horizontal position.
To repair a sagging door handle lever, you'll need to find the hole or pin that is the detent access point. It's usually a small hole or protruding ring, or rectangle, located on the handle base plate. Once you have located it, loosen the set screw using a screwdriver and take it off to allow the lever, allowing it to return to the horizontal position.
Once the handle has been set horizontally, it is possible to install the screws. Close them to ensure that the handle remains firmly fixed to the base plate. Consider applying a threadlocking solution to the threads of screws to improve grip and prevent them from loosening over time.
Drooping lever door handles can be caused by various causes. The most frequent reason is that the fixings have been too tightened, and are putting pressure on the bearings that are causing it to bind against the door face. It could also be that the levers aren't operated in a straight line and this is causing compression of the latch mechanism, preventing it from fully springing back into action.
The most common reason for a spring lever not operating properly is that the spring is not being in the right position on the backplate. To determine if the handle returns to horizontal, simply move it.
It is important to repair any door handles that are damaged as soon as you can. This can cause excessive wear on the screws, and the handle may even be able to fall off the base plate. You should also tighten loose screws frequently to stop them from becoming looser.
Lever/Snib
These handles made of upvc are also known as 'Snib' handle sets and have a snib lever towards the top of the lever that you can press down to lock your door if you don't use an Dummy lock. They usually come with a Fullex 68PZ (that's 68mm between the spindle's center and lever or lock centre) door lock. We also have a selection of door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.

You can update your home by changing the door handles whether you are replacing existing handles or installing new ones on doors that you have built. There are many styles to choose from for upvc door handles, including the classic lever on the backplate. Other options include straight or curly short latches, as well as dummy knobs for multi-point locks. These are ideal for French doors.
Rose door handles are oval or circular versions of backplate lever handles. These door handles are characterized by a lever or a knob that is mounted on a backplate. The backplate can be removed for hidden fixing.
There are a wide range of coloured and chrome finishes for these handles to complement your door and other hardware, like hinges, knobs, bolts and so on. Some handles come with an grub screw that can be used to connect the knob or lever securely to the spindle. Other handles are supplied with bathroom spindles that can be used to operate bathroom locks. They include a thumbturn turn and release mechanism, perfect for use on bathroom doors.
Mortise
If your uPVC front door handle is stuck in the open position, the reason is likely to be due to the tubular latch. There may be a few factors that could cause this, the first being an unlubricated latch plate on the latch plate. This can be resolved quickly by opening the door and spraying lubricant over the handle and lock. It could also be that the latch has come loose from the backplate. This could be more problematic and requires a professional to fix.
A multipoint handle system is the ideal solution for stuck door handles. The handles are inserted into the faceplate of the door and are operated with an actuated thumb turn knob or key that activates an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a variety of sizes to suit different types of uPVC doors. They are also available with a variety of attractive finishes that match the hardware you already have. The handles can be purchased via the internet or from an authorized locksmith in your area. They are easy to install with clear instructions.
To choose a replacement handle set, you'll be required to know the PZ size of your cylinder. This is the measurement in millimetres between the inner edge of the door frame and the center of the handle hole. You'll also need the type of lock on your door, whether it's a mortise or hook lock. Once you know these measurements, the most efficient method to determine the right handles is to use the filter by brand option on the website. This will help narrow down your options and then you can select the right size.
A typical handle set includes a handle unit comprising two screws of different lengths, drill guides, and installation instructions. The smarter versions, such as the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+, include a complete mortice lock with built-in keypad. These are more complicated units that are best for professional installers or highly skilled DIYers. Certain handle sets come with an array of additional accessories, such as weather strips, which can be used to enhance the appearance of the door.
