Remote Social Media Video Editor

I'm hiring a reliable remote editor to cut retention-first long-form for a growing tech, creator-lifestyle, and gaming YouTube operation under Midas Media Ltd.
This starts as a contract role for someone who works from clear briefs and source footage to ship polished long-form and short-form videos. Final Cut Pro X is required, not optional.
What you'll edit:
• Long-form YouTube videos for tech, creator lifestyle, gaming, product reviews, setups, comparisons, and buyer guides (voiceover-led and talking-head formats)
• Short-form for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok
• Clean motion graphics: lower thirds, callouts, product labels, verdict cards, simple on-screen graphics
• Pacing, b-roll selection, audio cleanup, captions, music, and export delivery
Occasional fitness content (MIDASMVMT) is possible if you're a strong fit for follow-along workout editing, but the core hire is tech and gaming long-form. Fitness experience is a plus, not a requirement.
Requirements:
• Final Cut Pro X (required)
• Strong motion graphics skills
• 3+ years of video editing experience
• Portfolio with YouTube editing work (tech, gaming, product review, setup, or creator-lifestyle long-form preferred)
• Retention-aware pacing and clean audio handling
• Good written English for async communication
• 4K-capable workstation, 2TB+ working storage
• Uncapped fiber internet, 100 Mbps+ download (200 Mbps+ preferred)
Heads up on file workflow:
Projects can run 100GB to 500GB of 4K source footage. You need uncapped, reliable fiber and enough local storage to handle large project folders. Please don't apply if you're on a capped data plan.
Nice to have:
• Experience editing tech, gaming, setup, or creator-lifestyle YouTube
• Buyer-guide, product-review, or affiliate-style content experience
• Thumbnail design and/or fitness content editing
Editing test:
Shortlisted applicants complete a short paid-style test edit before any hire decision. It checks pacing, b-roll judgment, audio cleanup, motion graphics, and how well you follow a brief.
Pay: USD 500/month, paid through Wise.
