Long-running feature documentary strand ‘POV’ is returning to American pubcaster PBS for its 35th season, kicking off in July with Yung Chang’s Wuhan Wuhan .
Diversity is a focal point for the upcoming edition, with more than half of this season’s films directed by women and two-thirds by filmmakers of color. In addition, half of the 14 features come from filmmakers of Asian descent, and several titles are by and about people with disabilities.
From a geographic perspective, the series will feature stories from China, Cuba, Ethiopia, Greenland, Myanmar, Norway, the Philippines and Zimbabwe, as well as contemporary Muslim perspectives from both outside and within the U.S.
Wuhan Wuhan , which premieres on July 11, chronicles the first wave of the COVID-19 lockdown. Other highlights from this season include the acclaimed Sundance feature Midwives , from Snow Hnin Ei Hlaing; the Oscar-shortlisted President , from Camilla Nielsson; and I Didn’t See You There (pictured), another Sundance favorite that earned its director, Reid Davenport, the U.S. documentary directing award at the festival.
“PBS is proud that after 35 years, ‘POV’ continues to deliver artistically unique, essential, and dynamic films by a diversity of creators,” said Sylvia Bugg , PBS’ chief programming executive and general manager, general audience programming, in a statement. “As our passionate, inclusive, and intellectually curious audience continues to grow, ‘POV’ remains a powerful linchpin in the mission of public television.”

SUSANNA Reid was forced to make a sudden outfit change on Good Morning Britain because her dress was too revealing.
The 48-year-old presenter was ready and raring for work this morning wearing a red printed frock, but within just three minutes had to switch into a blue patterned number because the first was see through.
Her colleague, Ben Shepherd, shared the goings on behind the scenes on his Instagram Story.
In a video he panned to Susanna getting her hair and make-up done while on set, showing off the rouge ensemble.
He said: "There's a serious bit of patterns going on there."
But in the next clip Ben draws attention to Susanna's new look, he added: "Two minutes ago I was sure you were in a different outfit.
"The strange goings on on the GMB desk."
Susanna said: "I could have done a couple of wardrober changes in the three minutes we had before air time."
To prove his point Ben shared a collage of Susanna's two looks, which he captioned: "Quick Change Reid.
"Two mins to change... no problem."
Ben underwent a makeover of his own as he shaved off his beard ahead of his appearance on the ITV breakfast show.
In an earlier string of Instagram Stories, as well as a separate Instagram post, he documented his pampering session.
He said: "You know it's the end of summer when the beard's got to go. Back to work first thing so time to shave the beard."
Ben joked he looked like a pre-pubescent child after removing his facial hair.
He went on: "There we have it clean shaven.
"Looking like I'm just about to go through puberty again- at least my mum will be pleased. See you in the morning."

Riley Reid is a hot topic on Twitter but all for the wrong reasons because the netizens are bringing back her tweets and videos in which she admitted to raping a man in the past.
YouTuber Dyfo recently reacted to Reid's admission that the porn industry can be sad and lonely and can make dating very difficult for her. He cheered up Reid saying while not every man can be proud of the thing she does, there's probably one out there who will embrace her and her career in the adult entertainment industry.
Reid's dating life remains a hot topic, but while many sympathized with her struggles in finding true love, many brought back her past issues, including her rape confession. The porn star admitted to raping someone several times in two interviews and in multiple tweets. Reid already deleted her tweets about it, but not before other netizens were able to screenshot them.
One Twitter user recently shared Reid’s previous tweets admitting the rape incident that caused her to lose her virginity. Another also shared a video of Reid joking and laughing while admitting that she raped a man in a movie theater even if he said no to her three times.
Many people couldn’t believe what Reid said in her tweets and interviews, with some saying it was disgusting. Others gave her the benefit of the doubt , but many were convinced that her confessions were real because she said it multiple times on different occasions.
Due to Reid’s admission, many condemned her online. One even said that her struggles in finding love was her karma.
“Karma for that was her family disowning her and she can’t hold a relationship :D,” one commented .
"Maybe it's her disrespectful and predatory behavior that keeps men away?" another added .
Others noted there’s a double standard because Reid has not been arrested despite her confession. Some netizens claimed that she was not arrested because she’s a woman and a porn star. Several also said they won’t watch Reid’s videos anymore.
"Yeah...I won't be watching anymore Riley Reid videos," one wrote .
Meanwhile, Reid’s fans choose to support her despite the rape issue.
The online commotion started after Reid opened up about her struggles with finding love on Instagram . Many sympathized with Reid when she revealed in her post that her exes made her choose between them and porn, and she always chose the latter.
"One day someone will come along and show u that u don’t have to choose and they’ll love u for u. Just don’t ever stop being ur self cause ur perfect," Kendra Sunderland commented.
"You are a wonderful person and eventually the right person will come along who loves all of you, for you unconditionally," ChereDeVille added.
