The book Great Expectations is considered one of the most famous works written by Charles Dicken. It tells the story of a young orphaned boy named Pip. The story begins when Pip is taken in by an old and poor man named Joe Gargery. Then Pip meets a girl, Miss Havisham. She had been left by her father when she was very young. After this Pip learns that he was never meant to belong to the world of his childhood. He is forced to live a life of crime and poverty.

The story is set in London in the 1840s and focuses on the lives of three young men and the effects of the social changes that swept through the country at the time.
The three main characters are:
- Charles Peacock (a young man who has just left school and is hoping to make his way in life)
- John Peacock, Charles' brother, who is a lawyer and a member of Parliament
- Thomas Peacock, John's brother and a wealthy landowner
The book starts off with Charles Peacock at his sister's wedding.
The novel features a number of interesting characters.
The main character is Oliver Twist.
Oliver is a young boy who was born in a poor family.
He was brought up by a cruel old woman and her little son.
When Oliver was only seven he got sick.
His mother ran away and left him with the old woman.
She took Oliver to work as a boy in the street and he became a thief.
One day Oliver saw a man who was carrying a suitcase.
It looked like a rich man.
The book is written in the form of a diary.
Dickens wrote it in 1847 and it was published in 1848.
There are two main characters in the book.
This is the story of young Oliver Twist, a poor boy who was taken to the workhouse.
There he was cared for by a kindly old man named Mr. Fagin.
Oliver was not happy at the workhouse and he wanted to get away.
He managed to elope with a young girl named Nancy, who had been brought to the work house from the country.
