In case you haven't come across it, Reddit has a regular feature where people from all walks of life with an interesting story to tell are interviewed by the site's community. AMA stands for "Ask Me Anything," and pretty much anything goes. Here are 15 of the most fascinating AMAs from the last couple of years. What Do Bae, SMH, MFW, NSFW, IAMA, IMO And TL;DR Mean On Instagram And Reddit?

Abbreviations are great for saving time while communicating via text, social media or email, but sometimes things can get confusing. If the person on the receiving end of the message doesn’t know the abbreviation or anonym, having to explain the shorthand defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. By now, most people know what LOL (laugh out loud) and BRB (be right back) mean, but new slang is constantly evolving. To stay up to date, and to avoid any possible misperceptions, check out this glossary of popular terms used on Instagram and Reddit:
Bae: This acronym means “before anyone else,” but is essentially used as a short way to say “baby.” For instance, “He (or she) is my bae.” Or, more simply, “Hey, bae.”
SMH: This is a popular term on social media that stands for “shaking my head.” Occasionally, it will be written as SMDH, which means “Shaking my damn head.”
MFW/MRW: This stands for “my face when” and “my reaction when.” These terms are normally used on Reddit when someone is describing their response to what something looks like.
NSFW: This term can be found all over the internet and stands for “not safe for work.” It’s used when online content is not suitable for the workplace. For instance, articles that have nude or graphic images normally contain “NSFW” in the headline.
IAMA: IAMA is generally only used on Reddit and it stands for “I am A.” It’s used when someone starts an "ask Reddit" thread. For instance, someone might write, “IAMA commercial airline pilot, ask me anything.”
IMO: This acronym, which stands for “in my opinion,” can be used by anyone on any type of forum to express a belief.
TL;DR: When someone writes a response that is way too long, and the recipient doesn’t want to read it all, the person will write TL;DR, which means, “too long; didn’t read.”

Reddit Broken Arms Story refers to a post on the /r/IaMA by a man claiming to have had a "sexual relationship with his mother" that started when he was a teenager and "temporarily lost the use" of his arms. The post gained infamy in 2011 and is widely referenced on the site in comments about having "broken arms," though the OP claims it was not due to bone fractures.
On December 22nd, 2011, Redditor verifiedson submitted a post titled "IAMA Man who had a sexual relationship with his mother. (Probably NSFW )" to the /r/IAmA [1] subreddit. The post contained a link to a comment [3] by /r/IAmA admin puredemo verifying the authenticity of verifiedson's identity. In the comments section of the post, the OP details how his mother began masturbating him when he was 14-year-old after he was "injured in an accident and incapacitated." [2] In subsequent comments, he revealed that the sexual contact continued to the point of the two of them regularly having sexual intercourse.
Prior to being archived, the post gathered 1,423 points (74% upvoted) and 10,600 comments.
On March 30th, 2014, the internet new site BetaBeat [4] published an article titled "Here Are 8 of Reddit's Most Heinous Legendary Inside Jokes," which listed "Broken Arms" along with the "Jolly Rancher" story and the Cumbox . On May 30th, 2016, the Casually Explained YouTube channel uploaded a video titled "Casually Explained: The Friend Zone ", which featured an illustration of a mock text message conversation referencing the Broken Arms Story (shown below).
On June 20th, 2016, YouTuber Cyael uploaded a video titled "The Reddit Collection #10 – Broken Arms," in which he discussed the Reddit story (shown below).
