It's official: one of the moderators of the RebKell women's basketball forum has turned it into his own fascist regime. He allows a right wing nutjob to continually post bold faced lies such as that hydroxychloroquine is still being researched for effectiveness in treating/preventing COVID (it's not). Meanwhile, referring to cheeto as a p*ssy gets a longtime poster a lifetime ban. That person, known as Cthzfn, and I have a long and battled history but I came to appreciate him deeply as both a fan and a person. So I objected to the ban as well as that nobody can question the lies of the bold faced lying right wing nut job and I got banned again.
I encourage anyone who wants a forum for intelligent discussion of women's basketball to go to RebKell. At some point, I encourage you to question the fascist policies of the current mod. Oh, he's pumping Hilary Clinton to be the VP choice for Biden (who he claims he wants to win), so clearly goes for underhanded sabotage and fractured logic. Why would a candidate leading in the polls select the one person with negative numbers higher than Trump's? The one VP candidate that could keep a Trump hater from voting for Biden?

have not been to the web site and there is certainly a lot of misinformation out there, but hydroxychloroquine is stil in many clinical trials for both treatment and prevention. There is some theoretical reasons why it may be particularly attractive as a preventative intervention, and Duke got a large grant to study this.

The good news is that Covid 19 has gone away. Not a word about social distancing or spikes in deaths or danger to society like the Georgia governor was when hundreds of thousands of people are in America’s streets.

No, hydroxychloroquine is NOT still in "many" clinical trials for treatment or prevention. All major studies have been shut down due to both lack of effectiveness and death caused directly by hydroxychloroquine. Other possible treatments have shown effectiveness without the downside of causing death and those are being studied WIDELY. There are a few stray studies of hydroxychloroquine that have yet to be shut down due to a delay in reviewing the data. The big studies were all shut down early due to high amount of death due to heart arrhythmias.
Theories of effectiveness or prevention are "nice." But when significant adverse events (deaths) happen, the theory needs to be thrown out. This is what has happened with chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine. And the fact remains that on the RebKell forum, you are not allowed to directly counter a LIE. Things that are untrue, made up, etc are allowed to sit there and thus given credence. When I moderated The Devil's Den, I did not allow lies to sit. I banned people who broke board rules and told them why. On RebKell, I wasn't given reasons nor length of the ban.

This is mostly off-topic for this forum, but I did want to address this one thing since it relates to the pandemic: Hydroxychloroquine research has indeed resumed, following the retraction of the original Lancet article which indicated negative effects on a wide-ranging study from cases in Africa. It turns out that the database used in that study was highly suspect, and the paper was rushed into publication before it was fully vetted. The WHO (and likely other groups) has resumed research into the efficacy of the drug in fighting COVID-19. There is still no study with definitive, statistically-significant conclusions indicating that the drug is both safe and effective for this purpose, so it still should not be promoted by world or national leaders, but research into the question has indeed resumed.

The RebKell site has been down for about a week, showing that error message. The chief mod, Jammerbirdi, has tweeted that he's notified the owner, Reb, but has received no communication back from him. Reb had a stroke a few years ago and I never heard the outcome of that.
Maybe this is the end of RebKell, which has been slowly dying for years. The WBB Daily site I linked has never had much forum traffic because of the loyalty to RebKell, but it has much more modern software, news articles, social media links, and I believe is administered by the poster on RebKell named Stever. I see Pilight is posting there.
