MANY men crave a larger willy – but is bigger always better?
Recently a Sun reader wrote to Dear Deidre saying his large penis was destroying his relationship .
He told how his girlfriend doesn’t enjoy sex and it takes her a week to recover from one session.
So how big is too big? A recent survey found the average UK penis is 6.36in, with the biggest ones found in Wales, where they average 6.56in. Meanwhile it emerged that under a Scotsman’s kilt is an average of 6.45in.
Georgette Culley hears from three well-endowed men and their partners, while a single bloke tells what it’s like living with a ten-incher and a sex therapist gives her view.
PHOTOGRAPHER Joe O’Brien, 31, lives with his long-term partner, make-up artist Jasmine Jones, 24, in Wellingborough, Northants.
HE SAYS: "I’ve never known any different but according to statistics, in the UK my willy is well above average at nine inches.
"To me, size does matter. Mine has made me confident in every aspect of life, from getting changed in the gym to impressing a new sexual partner. I’ve never had to worry about my size or about getting naked.
"I think this is why I’ve always had a healthy sex life and a lot of sexual partners.
"But men shouldn’t get hung up on their size. Everybody likes different things in the bedroom and communication is the key to a successful relationship.
"But for me, it’s a pleasure knowing I can please Jasmine with my goods."
JASMINE SAYS: "Joe is the largest I’ve been with, but it’s no problem. To me he’s the perfect size, and it’s definitely improved our sex life.
“With a bigger size you can be more adventurous and experimental in bed and you don’t need to rely on foreplay as much. Having had some pretty unmemorable sexual experiences, I often didn’t enjoy sex much until I met Joe.
“I believe his size is one of the things that makes him feel more confident, both in his body and in his general outlook on life.
“And I’m sure many women would agree, confidence is a very attractive quality in a man."
BOOKIE Kris Dixon, 23, lives with partner Sydnie Bradbury, 21, and their one-year-old daughter in West Drayton, Middlesex.
HE SAYS: "I’ve had girls who have refused to have sex with me because my penis is too big – around eight inches when erect.
"One even needed hospital treatment because I accidentally injured her down below. All these experiences really scarred me.
"Having a big penis doesn’t mean sex will be good for the woman. After all, it’s not the size of the ocean, it’s the motion.
"I envy guys with an average-size penis. Six inches would be more than enough for me, but with Syd’s help we’ve managed to make my size work for us.
"My advice to big men who worry about injuring their partner is take it slow and maximise foreplay."
SYDNIE SAYS: "Kris’s penis is like a big vegetable and I nearly died of shock when I saw it.
“At first, sex was tough and we had to use lots of lube, and even then it was still painful.
“With a bigger penis you have to experiment with lots of positions. The best for me is on top, so I can control it.
“When we first met, Kris was worried about his size and feared he’d hurt me, especially as past partners have been too scared to have sex.
“This caused a complex and it took us a while to enjoy sex. Now our sex life is great but we have to be careful. People presume only small guys have complexes, but Kris’s size affected him too."
RIDING instructor Joe Hutchins, 23, from Penryn, Cornwall, is partnered with student Tally Hopkins, 22.
HE SAYS: "Growing up, I always had to get trousers tailored around the crotch area.
"Over the years I learnt how to position my penis when I’m horse riding, but it still causes me a lot of pain when I’m showjumping.
"Women can have breast reductions, but men can’t have penis reductions.
"I’ve always been very gentle with partners. I’ve had girls burst into tears from pain during sex.
"Tally has been amazing and patient. My advice to other guys with this problem is to not be embarrassed and seek help."
TALLY SAYS: "Before I met Joe I’d never had sex with a man whose penis was above six inches.
“When I felt his bulge for the first time it was terrifying. We tried to have sex but it was too painful and we had to stop.
“Joe was very understanding and a few days later we tried again, but it was no good. I was crying in pain.
“We saw a GP who explained that just seeing a well-endowed man can be scary, as you can create a mental block and freeze.
“She advised me to do yoga, to become more flexible and strengthen my pelvic floor muscles, and to try different positions. She also said always to use lube and try a numbing cream initially.
“After four weeks of yoga, I’d loosened up and we had sex for the first time. Now our sex is good and his size doesn’t scare me.”
SINGLE builder Albert Pritchard, 34, from Romford, Essex, reckons his size is ruining his sex life and he can’t get a girlfriend because of it.
HE SAYS: "I have a ten-inch penis and it has wrecked a lot of my relationships. I have a high sex drive but women say sex with me is too sore for them, particularly in positions such as doggy style – which is my favourite.
"It became such a problem in one of my relationships that we were arguing about it all the time and it completely ruined our intimacy.
"Every day when I looked down it was like a big reminder of what we were missing. In the end we broke up, blaming big differences – excuse the pun.
"Another girl I was seeing tried so hard to accommodate me that we even went to a sexual health clinic for help.
"A nurse told us to make sure we incorporated lubricant into our sex life, but it took a lot of the joy and passion out as a result, as we always felt like we were preparing for a surgical operation beforehand.
"I always get a lot of stares from other men when I’m getting changed at the gym. They might be looking at me with envy but they wouldn’t if they knew the problems it caused.
"I also have to be careful with the boxers and trousers I buy – too small and I can be really uncomfortable.
SEX therapist Louise Van Der Velde writes:

Big willies can be a real problem in the bedroom. I’ve treated lots of couples with this problem.
People assume only men with small packages feel inadequate, but so do men well above the average size.
The stress can cause women to mentally dread having sex.
This causes them to seize up, which is the worst thing that can happen, as it then makes it even harder to have sex.
I’d encourage couples to engage fully in foreplay, making massage a part of their loving, and urge the men to go very slow and add lots of lubricant.

Here's some fun phallus trivia for you: The average erect penis clocks in at 5.2 inches long and 4.6 inches in diameter, according to a study of more than 15,000 men. But when it comes to variations in penis length and width, most women can agree that size doesn't matter—what's more important is whether a guy can work what he’s got.

A few exceptions to this rule, however, might be valid. One is if a man has what's medically known as a micropenis , a rare condition Health has explored before. The other is if a guy's penis is really, really big.

The latter is something that can be intimidating to many women, who worry about whether an XXL member will fit, if it'll feel good, and if sex can still be pleasurable. And while the answers to the three questions above are yes (think about it, a baby comes out of there), yes, and hell yeah , there are a few things to know before you hit the sheets with a well-endowed dude. Read on for an ob-gyn's advice on making the action super enjoyable.

Sure you might be in the mood and feel ready to hit the bedroom for the main event. But if your vagina is not fully aroused, penetration can feel a little rough and lead to soreness . That may result in tiny tears at the entrance to the vagina that definitely won't feel good and can even be a conduit for infection.

During arousal, the vagina naturally elongates and becomes more flexible, enough to accommodate pretty much any size penis. So let those changes happen with lots of kissing, touching, and oral sex moves that will prime you for intercourse. ”You will be much better able to deal with a larger penis if you're very well stimulated,” Jennifer Landa, MD, an ob-gyn and chief medical officer at BodyLogicMD in Orlando, Florida, tells Health .

Even if you have no problem getting wet during arousal, it can't hurt to supplement your natural moisture with the store-bought stuff. “Lubrication obviously helps to decrease friction,” says Dr. Landa. She recommends looking into a lubricant that is hypoallergenic and natural , or with as few artificial ingredients as possible. Make sure it's not petroleum-based, which can degrade the latex in your partner's condom and potentially put you at risk of infection or pregnancy.

“One of my favorite natural lubricants is extra virgin coconut oil. It is moisturizing and lubricating and doesn't ball up like a lot of lubes you can buy,” she says.

“One of the main things to think of with a larger penis and condoms is the fact that not all condoms will fit him well," says Dr. Landa. "You certainly don't want to make his penis feel ‘choked’ and you also want to make sure the condom works well." Since it's his penis, he should know what brand and size fits him properly so it doesn't tear or feel too tight. But it can't hurt to keep a stash of XL size condoms on hand that he can choose from, so you know for sure you're both protected.

“The positions that work the best are the ones where the woman can be on top and control the action," says Dr. Landa. "Woman on top facing towards her man seems to be one of the best because she can control how much or how little of his penis she is ready to take inside." Reverse cowgirl can work, too.

Beyond woman on top, experiment with missionary and side-by-side sex. “For missionary, you can try putting both of your legs inside of his. This will provide clitoral stimulation and prevent him from going too deep,” she says. Side by side, or spooning, also prevents his penis from going too deep, she adds.

No disrespect to doggy style, but of all the main sex positions, this is the one that offers the deepest penetration. That can be a little too much for some women whose partners are very well-endowed, explains Dr. Landa.

Traditional doggy style, when a woman's hips are raised on a pillow and her legs are spread far apart, lets a guy go especially deep, she says, and it puts him in control of the depth and pacing. “If you want to do doggy style, it's important to close your legs together pretty well to prevent him from going as deep as he might otherwise,” she suggests. Or ask him to stay still and let you use your hips to direct the action.

I tell everyone this story: I was 19 years old and losing my virginity for the first time. My boyfriend at the time often bragged about his size. He was about 5 inches soft and about 8.5-9 inches erect. I lost it, it was the most painful sex experience. Not only did he pop my cherry, I had to stand in the bathroom tub because he made me bleed out (literally), I would not stop bleeding and I was in pain. He was also a virgin and I was not prepared. I ended up going to the hospital and it was a very embarrassing experience. A year later, I started becoming active with another guy, he was quite small in length, but large in girth. He always made me orgasm ALWAYS. He didn't believe me becuase he always talked about how he wished he was bigger. We had some of the most passionate sex, and his size was not an issue for me. My current bf is about 6 inches erect and we have a lot of together, we've been together for some years now. Moral of the story: Bigger is not always better, but for one, it's definitely more painful.
Not necessarily, for me about 6.5 is ideal. The guy I'm going out with is 8.5 inches and im a bit scared of having sex with him cause he is very dominant and likes it rough... I don't want to be ripped :x
ok how big you experienced untill now?
Haven't had sex with him yet but I've seen it. Just the 6.5
haven't had sex with the 8.5 inches, only the 6.5...
its mean you feel comfortable with 6.5 inch
i have 6 inch long and 4.5 inch girth
Your size is alright but don't call me baby when I'm not yours
17 :'3 ?-? The donkey must be envious.
Probably not. Will hurt like a bitch I think since I'm still a virgin.
That doesn't need to be explained, The vagina fits to all sizes but the important thing is how can use your thing. If penis is too long or too big can hurt the partner since some girls are sensitive in cervix.
Well it is interesting getting women's thoughts and preferences. i was thinking most would say bigger but i am a little surprised.
Uhm, I see virgins having opinions on this? Wtf they literally don't know what they are talking about.!! There is a way to enjoy a big one (getting on top so there is more pussy available then when in doggy style, or more finger work done before inserting it so it doesn't hurt getting in, et c). I would choose a big/difficult to work with dick over a small one -not sure if you are in yet- any day. However, things don't end there. An average one whose master knows how to use is better than a large that hits all the wrong spots or comes way too fast. So if you have an average/smaller one don't worry, just do your best. Live the moment, kiss how your partner enjoys it and you'll have a good sex time.
Hey kids! This is what a perverted internet troll looks like!
Size does matter so if you have small pen you might as well stop searching for a mate xP
what is the average in your opinion?
do i experience sex? I have had sex yes.
