Weβre an all-amateur crew. We like doing walk-abouts in Bangkok, in search of a shooting opportunity. Here we are in the Talad Noi area of Bangkok, in pre-Covid times, surrounded by Chinese history and enchantment, when suddenly Kangsom starts to dance. And off we go. Can you believe this young woman has no prior modeling experience whatsoever?
Kangsom my model gets presented with a glossy color print of βSea Witchβ, from our upcoming series 'Island Story'. This was our first βbigβ print test using our selected print lab, Loxley UK (βOMG, the colors came out the same!β). Big JuJu!! So happy. There is something magical about seeing images in print for the first time.
But the biggest reward for the photographer is seeing the modelβs reaction. Suddenly, all that time spent in the green mean sea spitting out sea weed, at the mercy of the sadist with his camera, seems somehow retro-cool, the project just became - real. So proud of you, Kangsom!
'Sea Witch' was our submission for the LensCulture Art Photography Awards 2022 (Single Image). We didn't win.
Island Story is the story of a shipwreck. "Stranded on tropical shores that time forgot, a beautiful Lady from Shanghai struggles for survival, with humor, charm and style. Storms, cannibals and witches - she will encounter them all!"
My hope is that I can make significant improvement in Kangsom's life - hers and her family. The same goes for all my models. Please wish us luck. We're going to need it. A lot of talent out there.

A friend asked if I would photograph his day flying his model aircraft .. Not an easy task but here is the 1st of 700 exposures.
6/30/2010: I orchestrated a glamour photoshoot with a young blonde woman named Tara. This girl has a nice personality and looks gorgeous. She took my direction well and acted in a professional manner as my beautiful model and was a good looking subject. I captured her in many poses and portraits with my Canon camera. She wore several colorful tanktop shirts and two pairs of blue denim jean shorts that exposed her great, long legs and butt. She also sported a little black dress. Her face and particularly her steel blue eyes are captured in some of my shots on my photostream. I really liked the style of this university student.
The location of this photosession was a historical downtown district in a small town. She posed in front of several old walls and some of the walls were painted unique colors that provide a different, creative look to some of my compositions. The girl also posed in a green tanktop and flipflops in front of a wall of ivy and vegetation. Elsewhere, she posed upon the concrete floor of an outdoor stage and on and around railroad tracks and an old, red train caboose. In some of my pictures, Tara is smiling, and she looks serious, though always sexy, in others. An old, rusty fire escape is utilized for some of the pictures, and a bench and picnic table are used in others.
The weather was steamy hot, and the sun was shining during most of the stylish, outdoors shoot. I really enjoy the summer months, and this late June afternoon was really enjoyable as was this fashion shoot.

One thing I'd like to be is more creative in my portraits. I think this would be improved through different manipulations in the color of my compositions. For example, I could adjust the saturation and exposure and contrast settings through photoshop or Picnic, and I could do more work in black and white. Otherwise, I could develop more elaborate, stylish themes for my photo sessions.
If you can think of an interesting, clever idea for a fun theme, please comment on this picture and tell me your thought because I would love to hear it. Sometimes, I feel worried that my amateur photo shoots are going to fall into a rut as I do roughly the same thing. I would like my photography to evolve into something special with fresh, new energy that people really like. On the other hand, I am still very much new and have pltny to learn. I'm not ashamed of this fact because I am not a professional photographer. I do this as a fun hobby that I would like to take to the next level. Please let me know through comments on my work as to what you like about this picture.

She has a nice smile and a sexy, great body. It's a pleasure to work with her, as always. I have known her for quite a while and hope to work with her in a different location in the future.
The locations for this photo session are the playground, the gazebo, the lake, the river and in front of a brick wall as are several of my other outdoor endevors. I hope you like my images that I post and please revisit my work that has already been posted to my photostream.

Monday, 8/9/2010: I had a busy morning. I had my first outdoor photoshoot with "Emilita," who I worked with last spring. It's been a year and a half, and this was definitely a fun photo session. It's enjoyable to add outside photos to all the indoor studio images I already posted onto my photostream. People have made their requests known to me, and I have listened to them.
Emilita is a beautiful brunette model who has a good sense of style. She wears a white tanktop shirt and blue denim jeans cutoff skirt as well as a little pink dress. She has a nice smile and a sexy, great body. It's a pleasure to work with her, as always. I have known her for quite a while and hope to work with her in a different location in the future.
The locations for this photo session are the playground, the gazebo, the lake, the river and in front of a brick wall as are several of my other outdoor endevors. I hope you like my images that I post and please revisit my work that has already been posted to my photostream.

My son and I were at Forest Park in St. Louis near the Art Museum.
As I returned to where I had set down my tripod and bag before walking off for some handhelds, I saw that this young lady was starting to pose up here for two photographers.
"Excuse me," I said, "sorry I left my stuff right in your way here."
"No problem," he replied. "Seems like whenever I do a shoot here there's a pro doing a shoot."
"Oh, I'm not a pro, I said. "Are you?"
"Amateurs don't get to shoot such pretty models," he said. That line primed her for a smile, and this amateur hastily grabbed two shots before beating a retreat.
(At first I thought it was for a senior picture, but the holey jeans didn't quite add up for that -- and maybe she was a few years older. Maybe that blouse is a fashion trend he's shooting. Sure reminds me of peasant blouses worn by girls I loved in the 70s.)
