Nascar’s roving reporter Paige Duke has been fired after nude and explicit photos of her surfaced on the internet.
The images broke the ‘morality code’ of Sprint, the mobile phone operator that sponsors the series, which forbids reporters to date drivers or to negatively impact the firm’s image, a spokesman said.
An ex-boyfriend of the 18-year-old is rumoured to be responsible for posting the images online.
Speaking to Fox News, she said: ‘All we know is they came from his computer, he’s the only person I sent them to.’
The offending shots, which were taken while the reporter was at Clemson University, show her fully nude in a number of compromising positions.
Paige has described the incident as ‘the most embarrassing thing that could have ever happened to me’.
She was one of three Sprint Cup Girls, who interview drivers, mechanics and team bosses throughout the season.
The reporter, who is also a part-time veterinary nurse, said the position with Nascar was the best job she could have asked for.
Paige’s sacking has caused outrage on Twitter and has led to the creation of two Facebook groups calling for her reinstatement.
One supporter, Suzanne Furr Harper, wrote: ‘Paige is a beautiful girl, who represented Sprint Cup with dignity and poise.

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV/CN2) - A Lancaster native lost her job as Miss Sprint Cup recently after graphic images of her surfaced from 5 years ago when she was in college, she says.
Paige Duke, who attended Lancaster High School, had a dream job as one of three Miss Sprint Cups.
(It was) "The perfect job. I loved my fans, I loved traveling the country," said Duke, who had been selected for a second year in the job.
But that all came to an end last week after a handful of a nude photos of her ended up on a racing website's message board – and then to the rest of the Web.
Duke, a former homecoming queen, learned of it when a friend called her.
"He said he'd gotten an email with some pictures of me," Duke told CN2 in an interview." I said 'Are they me?' He said, 'They look like you'."
The photos were supposed to private, sent to her freshman boyfriend at Clemson more than 5 years ago, Duke said. Instead, they got her fired, she says.
"For something I did six years ago, for a private, intimate moment that I meant for only one person's eyes to see," said Duke, who at first had been most worried about breaking the news to her family.
Instead, the hardest news to cope with was that she lost her job.
"It was the worst day of my life. I thought the world was ending," Duke said. "I didn't know where to go. I was shocked.... I was hopeless."
Since then, a Facebook group has started to support her and some fans are also rallying around her.
But, the images are still out on the Internet and keep being posted on message boards.
"I don't just feel betrayed by him," Duke said. "I feel exploited. And I feel unfairly judged by the people on these boards that keep posting them."
Duke said she hopes this can be warning to young people now lightly experimenting with technology.
"Don't take something you don't want your grandmother to see," said Duke, who has attorneys trying to determine who leaked the 7 photos.
A member of the Miss Sprint Cup Organization told CN2 they wish Duke nothing but the best.
Duke, who is working at a local veterinarian's office, says she hopes to talk with young people at local schools about her situation in the near future.

Model and part time animal nurse Paige Duke, 24, has been fired as one of NASCAR's three 'Sprint Cup Girls' after nude pictures of her emerged on the internet.

Miss Duke, who travelled the country as one of the sport's roving reporters, was fired because the graphic shots broke mobile phone operator and sponsor Sprint's 'morality code'.
The pictures of an 18-year-old Miss Duke were taken at college and sent to an ex-boyfriend.
Speaking to Fox news, a devastated Miss Duke said: 'I did not intend for anybody to see these and now I'm exploited.
'This is the most embarrassing thing that could have ever happened to me.
'I lost my job, the best job I could have ever asked for, it was perfect for me. '
Miss Duke says the pictures - which show her fully nude in a number of compromising positions - were taken in her dorm room at Clemson University.
She added: 'We're still investigating how these pictures got out there.
'All we know is they came from his computer, he's the only person I sent them to. '
A repentant Miss Duke continued: 'I just want to set the record straight, I'm going to own up to my mistakes.
'It's something I did, I've cried enough tears over it, I'm tired of crying, I'm tired of hiding from everybody.'
As one of three Sprint Cup Girls, Miss Duke would interview drivers, mechanics and team bosses throughout the season.

Travelling almost every weekend, Miss Duke had been in the job for over a year before her friend alerted her that the pictures were being posted via email and message boards.
Ironically, Miss Duke's Modelling page rules out any 'topless or nude shots'.
She wrote: 'Hey ya'll! I'm a college student and print, bikini, and promotional model.
'I love everything about modelling, pictures, and travelling.

'God as really blessed me with everything in life... But since I can't be the country singer I'd love to be (don't have that talent) this is the next best thing haha.
'I am open to many types of photography including glamour, fashion, pinup, swimsuit, etc but please don't contact me about NUDES OR TOPLESS--I WON'T DO IT.'
Her sacking has caused outrage on Twitter and two Facebook groups calling for her reinstatement are attracting hundreds of fans.
One, Gregg Paul, wrote: 'As humans we make mistakes, Paige made hers at 18.
'It's what we do to better ourselves, that is what counts.
'Let's not forget, the sport we love started running illegal moonshine. The drug alcohol, the illicit drug of the time. '
A spokesman for Sprint said in a statement: ' We'll all miss her and wish her nothing but the best in her future.'
