Raping Young Girl
William Rigby admitted sexually assaulting three girls
A man who filmed himself raping a five-year-old girl has been given a life sentence because of the risk he poses to young girls.
William Rigby, 53, attacked the girl at a house in Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute, in October 2018.
When she told a parent, Rigby claimed the girl was "misunderstood" but was later held by police.
He pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to charges of indecent and sexual assault against three girls.
Judge Lady Stacey placed Rigby on an order for lifelong restriction and ordered that the punishment part should be seven years.
But she told him: "That does not mean you will be released then. It may be you are never released. You will be in prison until there is any hope of you not being a danger to young girls."
Lady Stacey added: "You are guilty of a horrible catalogue of offences. What you did was betray the trust of a family and what you did harmed these children.
"You present a risk to the public and are likely to continue to do so even after work is done with you."
The court had heard that police officers seized Rigby's mobile phone after the young rape victim told a parent.
They found a series of indecent video clips of him with the girl.
Prosecutor Margaret Barron told the court this included him raping the child.
A further 34 indecent images of children were also discovered.
A police investigation found he had also abused two others girls between 2006 and 2018.
One was aged four when it began, the other was six.
Det Insp Steve Martin, of Police Scotland's public protection unit, praised the "courage and strength" of Rigby's victims.
He added: "The abuse displayed by Rigby towards his victims was horrific and some of the worst my officers have seen."

A serving police officer has appeared in court accused of raping and sexually assaulting a young girl on multiple occasions.
Paul Hill, 58, is charged with two counts of raping a girl under 13 and two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration.
The assaults are said to have taken place during a six year period between 2009 and 2015.
The Northamptonshire Police officer did not enter any plea when he appeared in the dock of Westminster Magistrates Court in London yesterday dressed in a black suit and white open shirt.
Supported in the public gallery by his wife and a Police Federation Representative, he spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, address and to tell a district judge he understood proceedings.
The cop, from Kettering in Northamptonshire, showed little emotion during the hearing, which lasted around five minutes.

Mr Hill was released on bail, with orders not to contact the complainant in the case either directly or indirectly
Prosecutor Jordan Pratt did not outline the facts of the case and did not oppose the officer being bailed on condition that he does not contact his alleged victim directly or indirectly, who cannot be named for legal reasons.
He said: 'These are incredibly serious allegations.
'Since this case started as a requisition there are no objections to bail.
'I would ask for one condition of bail that he does not contact, directly or indirectly, the complainant in this case.'
His lawyer Louise Stephens made few representations other than to deal with administrative matters.
District Judge John Zani told him: 'I am going to transfer this case to Northampton Crown Court for 9.30am unless you are given a different date, the bail condition being that you don't contact the complainant directly or indirectly.'
The officer replied: 'I fully understand. Thank you very much your honour. Thank you to all members of this court today.'
After the case the prosecutor confirmed Mr Hill is a serving Northamptonshire Police officer.
A formal plea is expected to be entered at the next hearing and preparations for a trial are expected to be made.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: 'We can confirm a police constable has been charged with four non-recent sexual assault offences and has been suspended from work pending the outcome of the case.'
If found guilty he is expected to face misconduct proceedings at a later date.

Comedians accused of sexually abusing minors
Gang members used older girl to lure alleged victim to scene of the crime.
March 29, 2011— -- A gang of teen boys are accused of savagely raping an 11-year-old girl they lured from a California shopping mall and brutalized in the dank men's room of a nearby park, police said.
The oldest of the alleged attackers is Michael Sykes, 19, who was arrested Monday following a two-week manhunt. He is charged with rape, sodomy and assault of a minor.
Sykes is the oldest and last charged member of a group of seven other teens who police say are all members of a local street gang known as the South Side Mafia.
The March 10 rape may have been part of a perverse gang initiation rite, according to police who said the teens would be further prosecuted on gang-enhanced charges and could be charged as adults.
Police say the girl was lured to Victoriano Park in Moreno Valley, Calif., by an older girl, who she may have known and who may have been working for the gang. The older girl has also been charged for abetting the commission of rape.
The seven other gang members, aged 14 to 17, were arrested soon after the 11-year-old girl came forward to report the crime. Police say they did not initially make news of the crime public so as not to endanger the investigation.
On Monday, the Riverside County Sheriff announced they were looking for Sykes, believing he had fled to Los Angeles. He was arrested later that day.
Sykes and the other boys do not yet have attorneys, police said.
The police have not identified the girl or the accused minor assailants.
It is unknown whether the victim knew the young men, said Cpl. Courtney Donowho, spokeswoman for the Riverside County Sheriff.
Donowho said police do not believe the boys photographed the scene as has happened in other recent gang rape cases.
The incident follows several similar high-profile group sexual assaults.
In February, 13-year-old from Banning, Calif., reported being held down and assaulted by two boys also at a park.
Earlier this month the alleged rape of an 11-year-old girl from Cleveland, Texas by 18 men and boys ranging in age from 14 to 26, sparked national outrage.
In 2009, a 15-year-old high school student was gang raped on school grounds during a homecoming dance. Police in Richmond, Calif., believe as many as 20 people watched or participated in the assault that lasted more than two hours, with some photographing or recording the attacks.

A MONSTER who filmed himself raping an unconscious 19-year-old and a second who attacked three girls have been caged for 37 years.
Dickson Ngaunde, 27, was caught after cops discovered the sick video on his phone.
He was also captured on CCTV laughing about the intoxicated state the victim was in after he raped her.
Ngaunde and friend Amos Ocheng, 51, groomed and exploited vulnerable young girls in Preston in 2019.
One of the victims attempted suicide while another was made homeless following the horrific abuse.
All of the victims were plied with booze and drugs which they said made them feel "weird".
One said: "My eyes were blurry. I sat on the bed and the next thing I woke up naked."
Ocheng has now been caged for 27 years after being convicted of raping three girls aged between 14 and 19.
He was also found guilty of three trafficking offences and three counts of supplying drugs after a trial at Preston Crown Court.
Jurors heard how the brute has HIV but thankfully didn't infect any of his victims.
Ngaunde was jailed for ten years for raping the 19-year-old girl.
The court was told the depraved pair used pseudonyms and rental cars to go under the radar.
They would pick the vulnerable girls up from care homes and drive them across the country before abusing them.
But they were eventually caught as part of a huge police investigation named Operation Command.
Even after they were charged, the monsters lied and said the girls consented - with Ocheng claiming he believed the victims were older.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Holgate, who led Operation Command, said: “There was a pattern of behaviour indulged in by both these men where young, vulnerable females are befriended for one singular purpose, their own sexual gratification.
“I would like to commend first and foremost the bravery of the young women who have reported these offences and gone through the trial process – it cannot have been an easy experience to relive what was done to them but these convictions would not have been possible without them and I am grateful for what they have done.
“I am grateful too for the work the Crown Prosecution Service and Counsel have done in securing these convictions and to the trial jury who carefully considered the evidence and delivered the guilty verdicts.
“We would encourage anyone who has been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward. The decision to report an assault is a hugely personal one, but we want to reassure people that all reports to us are taken very seriously and we will investigate in a sensitive and supportive way.
"We offer support and working with you to ensure that you have the right help from the appropriate services.”
