People don’t understand how deep these lines are. Supa Hot Fire is a straight up genius. I’ve been writing my dissertation on all 5 parts, so far it’s at 50+ pages. Let me just drop a few examples of the knowledge I have unraveled.
When Supa Hot says “I’m not a rapper” he is channeling one of the greatest to ever spit, Jay-Z. This was theme was repeated by Jay many times in his earlier albums and reiterated in Heart of the City “I thought I told you characters I’m not a rapper.” By saying he is not a rapper he is actually subliminally telling you he is right up there with the greats. Genius!
The infamous first line “I broke up with my ex girl here’s her number, psych that’s the wrong number!” Double entendre. Most people will take the literal meaning which is Supa Hot offering an ex girlfriend’s number to B-Bone. However at the same time he is expressing his lament about a particular characteristic (her number) of his ex which is lying, which Supa acts out (psych that’s the wrong number!). This must have been the reason they broke up.
But now what if in fact Supa Hot is stating that “no she is not a liar, in fact I showed YOU the wrong number”? This is what makes him so deep.
We were at school in math class and this guy is doing a math problem on the board and in the middle he drops the chalk and shouts “SIKE DATS DA WRONG NUMBER!” and everyone started cracking up and he got a detention.
Supa Hot Fire’s rhymes make me shiver. He is just too cold. I can’t even fathom the lyrical genius going on right now.
I once rapped against Supa Hot Fire.
