Over 30 passengers have been allegedly kidnapped by armed bandits at Garun-Gabas in Rafi Local Government Council of Niger State.
It was gathered that the victims were abducted Wednesday afternoon along the Zungeru-Garin-Gabas highway on three separate vehicles.
DAILY POST learnt that they were traveling in an 18-seater bus and two other vehicles when they ran into the gunmen.
Eyewitness account, the bandits blocked the road shooting sporadically into the air to scare villagers who scampered to various directions before whisking the passengers away to an unknown location..
A resident of the area who did not want the name mentioned, said after kidnapping the travellers the bandits in large numbers ran into the Kundu forest in Rafi to rustle cattles.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, when contacted, promised to get back, but is yet to do so as at the time of filing in this report.

Bandits killed two soldiers and abducted a Chinese in the Magama Local Government Area of Niger State.
It was gathered that the bandits on Monday attacked the Libale community in Nasko, but met with stiff military resistance, resulting in the exchange of fire between the bandits and the soldiers.
A security source told The PUNCH that two soldiers were killed in the attack, while several bandits were killed.
However, the number of bandits injured or killed in the exchange of fire could not be ascertained.
A resident of the village said the bandits ran into the Libale Mountain area in the community.
The military and other security agents were said to be currently combing the mountain area and the forest with a view to apprehending the bandits.
The Chinese was said to be one of the workers of the construction firm handling a road project in the area.

Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Bandits have reportedly abandoned their victims when sighted the Nigeria Military fighter jet and scampered into the forest for fear of aerial attack.
The Military fighter jet which was tracking the bandits from air saw how kidnapped victims mostly women were being railroaded into the forest, but the jet having fired a warning shots disorganised bandits who ran into the forest for their dear lives.
Having been abandoned, troops of the Nigerian Air Force have rescued scores of victims at Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Reacting through a statement on Sunday, Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, explained that the bandits invaded Najaja and Kerawa villages in the Igabi Local Government Area and abducted several people, mostly women.
He confirmed in the statement that bandits were escaping with their victims, before the Nigerian Air Force fighter jet on aerial patrol spotted their location and was able to rescue the kidnap victims.
The armed bandits, according to the Commissioner, were moving with the large number of women kidnapped from Ungwan Najaja when the air platforms traced them to the outskirts of the village.
On sighting the jet and conscious of air interdictions following warning shots, the bandits scampered into the forest and abandoned the women.
The bandits had earlier injured one Hamza Ibrahim while moving out of the village with the kidnapped many of whom were housewives.
