Desperado ( ้ญ ( ใพ ) ไบบ ( ใใ ) , Majin , lit. "Demonic Person") is a unique group of Blazers , who have shattered the chains of fate that bound them.
It has always been explained that Blazer's magic is determined from birth and it would never increase no matter the training. Edelweiss elaborates that their fixed magic is the limit that the world would allow them, meaning that Blazers such as Stella Vermillion , an A-Rank with thirty times the magic of an average Blazer has a greater role in the world compared to those who have less magic compared to Ikki Kurogane who has the lowest magic even among F-Ranks.
Whenever Blazers reach the limit of their potential, most if not all of them see black chains wrapped around them, which represent the "chains of fate", the limit of how far the world would allow them to proceed.
However, there are beings who were able to break those chains binding them achieving what is referred to as an Awakening ( ่ฆ้ ( ใใซใผใใปใฝใฆใซ ) , Burลซto Sลru , lit. "Brute Soul") thus putting them outside fate becoming known as a Desperado. As shown by Ikki who reached his Awakening, a desperado can raise the upper limit of their magic, which an ordinary Blazer cannot due since they are bound by fate. Having stepped out of their original fate, Desperados exists between the boundary of a human and a demon.
It has been explained that the exact method of achieving ones' Awakening has been explained as carrying ones' potential as a Blazer to the absolute limit, as well as having the will to ascend even higher than that resulting in the ranking up of their soul. Orleus-Gaule has proven Awakening can be forced as he had done to Iris Gaule , his older sister using Marionette , as well as reaching his own Awakening at the age of ten possibly by using the same method.
Desperados are beings known to have greater magic than that of normal Blazers due to them being able to raise the upper limits of their magic depending on their training. As beings who broke the chains of fate binding them, a desperado possess an "attractive force" which enables them to influence the cause and effect of the world around them. As such, if the fate that they force upon is inevitable, the process leading up to it can be skipped and the end result will be manifested in an instant; because of this, a desperado can immobilize, wound, or kill Blazers just by having such strong intentions in their minds.
Desperados are also immune to Noble Arts like Nameless Glory because they exist outside of fate, meaning that they aren't bound by the same rules as normal people or blazers. Due to them being able to manipulate fate itself, it is a common belief that the only ones who can defeat a Desperado are other Desperado.
The only method to defending against the "attraction force" exerted by Desperados is to have strong faith in your own unshakable abilities. This can at times be extremely difficult in heated combat, and very few normal Blazers are able to stand alone and hold their own against a Desperado.
There exist a second lesser-known transformation available to Desperados said to have used too much power attained after their "Awakening" referred to as Excessive Awakening ( ่ฆ้ ( ใใใใ ) ่ถ
( ใกใใ ) ้ ( ใ ) , Kakusei Chลka , lit. "Excessive Awakening") , which causes them to change to a shape that resembles their soul as beings who existed in-between the border of human and demon, crossing over to a demon. Accessing the Excessive Awakening grants them enormous power, increasing their magic at the cost of their humanity.
The appearance of those that have undergone "Excessive Awakening" resembles that of a demon, Some have black skin, horns, wings, tail, golden eyes, as well as increasing their size. The exact changes, however, varies between users. It seems that the transformation can be activated and deactivated at will, at least by experienced users. It is also shown that the transformation clouds the user's intellect, though this only seemed to be a problem with an inexperienced user.
The transformation is extremely rare, being more of a rumor between Desperados. The ways to access the form are not fully revealed, though the user needs to cast their humanity behind. Nene was capable of accessing the form in her fight with Naseem Al-Salem , after her ego as a human was destroyed. Stella was able to access this after seeing Ikki being killed in front of her, however, he was revived by Shizuku Kurogane .
Those that have undergone Excessive Awakening, receive an enormous increase in magic power. Naseem in his form had a larger amount of magic than Stella , who has thirty times the amount of magic than other Blazer and is considered to be the strongest in the League . Their physical strength alone is beyond the realm of other powerful Blazers as well as retain their original Noble Arts and abilities, which are also empowered. Once they enter their Excessive Awakening the user's Device becomes one with their bodies, making them as strong as their Device.
Those who had surpassed being human, and would fight against each other one day to decide the future of the world.
Achieving "Brute Soul" is when a Blazer overcomes fate and transforms their soul into a person not bound by fate, and so it is called that because it is like having the soul of a beast. There is a rumor that a Desperado using the power from undergoing "Brute Soul" too much will result in their body changing to match the shape of their changed soul and they will also gain enormous power in exchange of losing their humanity.
