Hide-and-seekHide-and-seek (sometimes known as hide-and-go-seek) is a children's game in which at least two players (usually at least three) conceal themselves in a set environment, to be found by one or more seekers. The game is played by one chosen player (designated as being "it") counting to a predetermined number with eyes closed while the other players hide. After reaching this number, the player who is "it" calls "Ready or not, here I come!" or "Coming, ready or not!" and then attempts to locate all concealed players. The game can end in one of several ways. The most common way of ending is the player chosen as "it" locates all players; the player found first is the loser and is chosen to be "it" in the next game. The player found last is the winner. Another common variation has the seeker counting at "home base"; the hiders can either remain hidden or they can come out of hiding to race to home base; once they touch it, they are "safe" and cannot be tagged. The game is an example of an oral tradition, as it is commonly passed by children.
Ready Steady CookReady Steady Cook is a BBC daytime TV cooking game show. It debuted on 24 October 1994 and the last original edition was broadcast on 2 February 2010. The programme was hosted by Fern Britton from 1994 until 2000 when celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott became the new host. In August 2000, when Harriott took over, the duration of the programme was extended from 30 to 45 minutes. On 2 September 2019, it was confirmed that Rylan Clark-Neal would host a revived daytime series on BBC One in 2020. On 7 September 2021, it was announced by the BBC that the series ended after two series.
Danish longballDanish longball (Danish: Langbold, Swedish: Långboll, Norwegian: Slåball) is a bat-and-ball game similar to brännboll played in Denmark, Sweden and Norway founded by Graham Evans. It is also played in some British secondary schools, notably Manor School and Sports College, and is played recreationally by Scouts, the Air Training Corps, Wetheringsett Camp Suffolk (known as Nora ball), and by the Royal Navy and Australian Navy. It is also played at some U.S. summer camps.
Catchphrase (British game show)Catchphrase is a British game show based on the short-lived American game show of the same name. It originally aired in the United Kingdom between 12 January 1986 and 23 April 2004. A revival premiered on ITV1 on 7 April 2013 and is still running as of 2025. Steve Radosh created the American series from which the British programme is derived. In the game, two or three contestants have to identify a familiar phrase represented by a piece of animation. The show's mascot, a golden robot called "Mr. Chips", appears in many of the animations. The contestants then earn money based on the amount of phrases they guess correctly. Catchphrase was presented by Northern Irish comedian Roy Walker from its 1986 premiere until 1999. Nick Weir took over hosting the programme in 2000 and hosted it until the end of series 16 on 23 April 2004. Mark Curry replaced Weir for the final series, which moved to a daytime slot and ran from 24 June to 19 December 2002. In 2012, the series was revived with new host Stephen Mulhern and later commissioned for a full series broadcast in 2013. The original format remains, although there are now three contestants instead of two, and the show has also been updated with new 3D graphics and a new concluding game.

Silent Library (TV series)Silent Library is an American television game show that aired on MTV from June 15, 2009 to May 13, 2011. The series is based on one of the segments in the popular Japanese variety show Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!! The series was renewed for a 20-episode second season, which premiered on January 11, 2010 and featured celebrities such as the cast of Jersey Shore, All Time Low, Jim Jones, We The Kings, Ron Jeremy, Naked Cowboy, Asher Roth, This or the Apocalypse, Forever the Sickest Kids, Jessie James, Aubrey O'Day and Justin Bieber competing as contestants and appearing in humiliating punishment challenges. The series' third season premiered on June 28, 2010. The bands Patent Pending, All Time Low, Stereo Skyline, Hey Monday, Anarbor, NeverShoutNever, Honor Society, New Boyz and Iyaz have appeared as contestants, as did members of the New York Giants NFL team and the cast of the MTV original series The Hard Times of R.J. Berger. The fourth season premiered on March 28, 2011. The cast of Jersey Shore, The Ready Set, Judah Friedlander, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, players from the New York Giants, 3OH!3 and Superstars from the WWE all competed as contestants. MTV cancelled the show on November 9, 2011.
Prepared opening bidIn the game of bridge, a prepared opening bid is a bid which is not usual in the sense that it does not bid the longest suit first. The most common example of this is the better minor or short club opening bid. Another example is a principle of bidding in bridge popularized by Howard Schenken in bridge columns that he wrote during the 1960s. In his book "Big Club", Schenken refers to the principle as "The Principle of Anticipation (or Preparedness)". The principle states that when choosing an opening bid, a player should be prepared for the possibility that his partner could respond in the opener's shortest suit; he should choose his opening bid and have an appropriate rebid ready for that eventuality. The "Principle of Preparedness" was originally used by Ely Culbertson in the 1930s and is referred to by various writers from that period.
