Appalachian state university capstone (Suffolk County) My research focuses on caregivers, and particularly people with Alzheimer's disease, and how we can improve the quality of their life. I have a project in which we're launching an intergenerational choir for community- dwelling older adults with Alzheimer's disease and family caregivers. The purpose of this project is to promote social inclusion and also improve quality of life. In particular, people with Alzheimer's disease often become more socially isolated—we see friends dropping away—so the choir literally gives people with Alzheimer's disease a voice in a different way, and a visibility within the community to show that they can still contribute, participate, be part of the broader world.
