RAMAPHOSA called to account for HUMAN RIGHTS violations:

Mr Cyril Ramaphosa is the first sitting President to be called to account and to give testimony in a tribunal of South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC).

According to Themba Madi, spokesperson of Freedom Alliance SA for the FASA Human Rights Weekend Marches, "This is a historical event and day in our country's democratic evolution."

At the Johannesburg march that Madi led on 19th March 2022, a memorandum which Madi penned was handed to the CEO of SAHRC, specifically tasking the SAHRC to investigate and set up a tribunal to look deep into "the gross human rights violations related to the Cyril Ramaphosa-led South African government vaccination program, where multiple constitutional rights of the free and independent people of South Africa have been threatened and subsequently violated."

Madi is however concerned that, as in this current tribunal proceedings for the July 2021 unrest incident, "we can't have the FASA proposed tribunal take place in 2023. We need the SAHRC to URGENTLY investigate the matter, as we are already able to bring firm witness accounts and testimonies of the historical and continuing threats and violations of the Constitutional Rights of individuals, as well as many more millions of South Africans from many of our country's provinces."

On behalf of Freedom Alliance SA, Madi calls for The Commission to "urgently address the memorandum handed to them, and for the President to immediately respond to this urgent call, and for Ramaphosa and his government to give an account for these gross constitutional rights violations without any further delay."

Madi further stated, "Many lives are already affected, and we fear many more will be, based on the shortcomings of the governments pandemic response and vaccination programme. We CANNOT afford to wait 6 months for the process to begin. That would be a gross neglect of the already violated people, and a further travesty in this whole saga."

The SAHRC is the chief institute that is tasked to promote, apply and safeguard the constitutional rights of all people of South Africa, without fear or favour. That means even calling the President, his Health Minister, and the entire Cabinet to account for any and all gross violations of our Constitution by the Cyril Ramaphosa-led government, as well as their role in not protecting the constitutional rights of any one person and/or all of the South African public, especially those who are voiceless throughout the pandemic and post pandemic period.

Although FASA have received an official acknowledgment of the memorandum signed for by Adv. Tseliso Thipanyane in his official capacity as CEO of the SAHRC, they await urgent response to the actions called for in that memorandum.
