Use the Auto Data Recovery Tool to Regain Your Lost Data

There are two methods to recover the lost company file data in QuickBooks Desktop, one of which is the QuickBooks Auto Data Recovery tool. To perform this, you will need the .adr copy of the company file and Transactions Log file and an original one for the Transactions Log file.

Move to the section below to recover your data using the ADR tool, and ensure you follow the steps mentioned.

Keep this in mind before proceeding:

  • The Auto Data Recovery tool is only available for Windows on the QuickBooks Desktop version.

  • The ADR feature to recover your data is unavailable in Accountant Editions.

  • You can only recover 1.5 Gigabytes of file size using ADR. If the backup is bigger than 1.5 Gigabytes, QuickBooks will fail to generate an ADR file.

  • Make sure the QuickBooks Desktop version is up-to-date to maximize the data recovery.

  • In the QBTest folder, right-click the .QBW.adr file and choose Rename.

  • Remove .adr extension from the end.

  • Launch QuickBooks Desktop.

  • Now, open the company file you saved in the QBTest folder. Confirm all transactions using your account register.
