The lyrics of the song describe a troubled young man named Sammy who works at The Emerald Bar, sweeping the floor. The narrator ( Freddie Mercury ) of the song encourages Sammy to pursue his dreams, telling him to “spread your wings and fly away”.
The music video was filmed alongside “We Will Rock You” at the back garden of drummer Roger Taylor’s mansion.

The music video was filmed in Roger Taylor's garden in 1978. The weather was cold and snowy which the band found very uncomfortable.
