Rumors have been circulating around the four corners of the showbiz industry that a famous couple has been brought to the hospital a week ago, covered with a blanket to hide their identities because of vagina lock. What the!!! Vagina Lock??? What the hell is vagina lock? I was laughing out loud, trying to refresh my memory, if I have ever encountered this term. Nah, I haven’t.
The first time I heard the news, I did not mind it since it’s just a blind item. But, yesterday morning, newspapers named them as … (to be safe, I won’t drop names for my own purpose. As of press time, the network where they are working already denied the issue. Moreover, there is no proof knowing how technology works nowadays, this story will just remain as a rumor until there are evidences or testimonies coming from the OB Gyne or the doctor, or there is a confirmation (which is very impossible to happen because it can destroy their careers) directly coming from the persons involved.
Well, I am not here to focus on these two stars and obliterate them as public figures. It’s their choice, it’s what they want. I respect them. However, this blog post will try to explain what VAGINA LOCK is, based on the researches I compiled from the NET.
A phenomenon called, penis captivus, is when a man becomes stuck inside a women when her vaginal muscles suddenly clamp down. There are even moments where, the man already loses his erection, but still, withdrawal is not possible; instead a trip to the emergency room is needed to separate the couple.
This rare phenomenon is still questionable however there are reports of allegedly real cases.
In short vaginal lock, is a vaginal muscle clamp down to hold a man’s penis so firmly together that they lock inseparably in sexual intercourse ( www.snopes.com/risque/penile/captivus.asp )
According to Wikipedia, there are two ways to treat vaginismus, physical and psychological.
Physical treatments of the internal spasms may include sensate focus exercises, exploring the vagina through touch, and desensitization with vaginal dilators. Dilating involves inserting objects, usually phallic in shape, into the vagina. In treating the spasms through dilation, the objects used gradually increase in size as the woman progresses. Medical dilators may be obtained online, though they may be expensive.
To treat it psychologically, we must glance on Ward and Ogden’s qualitative study on the experience of vaginismus for women (1994), the three most common contributing factors to vaginismus are fear of painful sex; the belief that sex is wrong or shameful (often the case with patients who had a strict religious upbringing); and traumatic early childhood experiences (not necessarily sexual in nature).
Vaginismus patients are twice as likely to have a history of childhood sexual interference and held less positive attitudes about their sexuality whereas no correlation was noted for lack of sexual knowledge or physical abuse.
For some women, especially those with primary vaginismus, it is important to address the psychological aspects of the problem as well as the actual muscle spasm. A woman may choose to address the issue on her own terms, or she may avail the help of a therapist. Some women, especially those with secondary vaginismus, may rely on a physical rather than psychological treatment and also be successful. There are emotional difficulties associated with vaginismus, which can include low self-esteem, fears, and depression.
My green mind is trying to visualize these two personalities, going to the hospital, half naked, imbricated. Haha… I can’t help but laugh. Hmm, whether it’s true or not, one thing is for sure, this news story made my Tuesday a good start. Happy Tuesday everyone
