Disturbing video has surfaced online showing an unconscious man being mocked and laughed at by onlookers after he was beaten to a bloody pulp by a gang of youths.
“Yea, n—a, you just got knocked the f–k out!” one of the spectators can be heard saying, as the rest of the unruly mob howls in amazement.
“Someone please call 911,” the group chants jokingly, in reference to a Wyclef Jean song featuring Mary J. Blige.
“You just got knocked the f–k out, b—h!” another man reiterates, before being shooed away by a disgusted bystander who tells him, “That s–t ain’t cool, bruh, y’all tripping.”
The video was filmed in Cincinnati late Saturday as chaos erupted in Fountain Square after a Fourth of July hip-hop and electronica concert ended nearby.
It was originally posted to the Facebook account of “QbabyOfTeamQ” — a self-described rapper, dancer, singer and producer from the area who has been seen on Fox & MTV, according to his Twitter page.
While thousands of people poured into the city’s streets around 11 p.m. — including fans from a Reds baseball game that had also just let out — around 50 to 100 people began attacking police with fireworks, glass bottles and other items.
In the midst of the pandemonium, bystanders on the south side of nearby Government Square stumbled upon the unidentified assault victim and began ridiculing him.
The man had been attacked by a violent mob of rioters just moments before, according to an anonymous statement purportedly posted online by a Cincinnati police officer who was at the scene.
Speaking to local sports blog Cincinnati Vs. Everyone, the cop gave his first-person account of what he claims happened late Saturday, when he saw the vicious assault unfold.
“So after my 4th of July night from hell I thought I would post the truth as to what went on last night in Downtown Cincinnati,” he writes.
“So we see ahead a scuffle begin and think it’s just a fight. Well not so much, it was like 40 v. 1. I saw 40 v. 1, it was 40 black youths stomping the crap out of one unlucky male, white. He didn’t do anything to deserve this beating except be white. I’m going to skip all the rhetoric and just say don’t we all matter??? This just pissed us all off. Time to rescue or at least try to get these thugs off of him. So we were sent in with shields and arrest team to do a victim rescue. Feel bad for the guy since he nor anyone deserved a beat down like that for no reason.”
On Monday, additional video was posted to YouTube showing a portion of the assault. The footage was captured from inside a city bus by a passenger who believes the brawl was sparked after the white victim “bumped” into a “black dude.”
No charges have been filed in the attack, but police told Cincinnati.com that an investigation was under way. Cops claimed the victim was “innocent” and had been treated and released at a nearby hospital.
When the smoke cleared early Sunday, two people were Tased and seven were arrested, including four adults and three juveniles, according to police.
“I hope every one of the people who threw a bottle, fired a handgun, threw fireworks at us, and most importantly beat that poor guy within inches of his life get what they deserve…in this life or the next,” wrote the Cincinnati cop, who wished to not be named. “I felt like I had to tell the truth and get the word out there from one of the men on the front line. We as an American Society and Cincinnatians need to get our s–t together because these types of interactions are going to increase. I say it again, this stuff is increasing not only here at home but across the country. We need to come together and fight back.”
