More than just the appearance of the sagging labia, there are more concerns when it comes to comfort. While having intercourse, if the labia is not firm and puffy, there is a lack of protection against friction. This can cause much discomfort.

Like other parts of the body, the labia can change over time. Just as drooping breasts are associated with aging, some women associate the droopy, deflated appearance of their labia with old age. Laxity or deflation of the labia majora (the outer lips surrounding the vagina) can occur with aging, after pregnancy, after weight loss, and with hormonal changes (menopause).
With trends in laser hair removal and waxing, more women are aware of the appearance of their labia. Some women feel that their outer vaginal appearance (labia) is symbolic of youth and sexual appeal.
Loss of volume or the appearance of deflated labia majora can be corrected non-surgically. This is performed with a simple office injection of a filler, which has been termed labial puff. A labial puff can restore a youthful appearance to the labia and outer vaginal area. It can also help the labia majora close over the labia minora, keeping them more concealed from outside view. Some women desire this so-called Barbie appearance. For this reason, some consider a labial puff to be a non-surgical labiaplasty.
We use both Restylane and Sculptra for labial puff injections. There is really no downtime except some possible minor bruising and swelling. Sex can be resumed the next day.
Restylane for Labia and Outer Vagina Area
Restylane injections into the labia majora are performed in the office. First, a numbing cream or ice pack is applied to the labia majora. A very small needle is then used for the injection. Labial puff results are instant when performed with Restylane injections. Restylane injections for labial puff last about a year.
Sculptra for Labia and Outer Vagina Area
Sculptra is another product that is used for labial puff injections. With Sculptra injections for labial puff, results are delayed since Sculptra stimulates collagen production which takes about a month to begin. Sculptra injections into the labia majora are usually performed two or three times, each injection a month apart. Sculptra results in the labia can last for up to 5 years.

Two other treatments that are often performed in combination with labial puff injections are ThermiVa or Viveve. Both of these treatments are non-surgical and use radiofrequency to gently heat up the tissues of the labia majora, causing tightening of the skin and a smoother appearance. ThermiVa and Viveve are used to treat wrinkles and laxity of the labia majora.
These treatments do not add volume like injections would, but can be used in combination. ThermiVa and Viveve can either be performed before the injections, not on the same day, or a month after the injections. ThermiVa and Viveve also have internal vaginal benefits as well.
