Fourteen people faced prostitution-related charges in Jackson City Court on Monday morning after a weekend prostitution sting.
The charges resulted from a Jackson-Madison County Metro Narcotics Unit operation targeting prostitution from Aug. 16 through Aug. 18. Undercover officers used online advertisements and communications to gather evidence for the arrests, according to court documents.
The operation came after the metro narcotics unit received "several complaints in recent months about prostitution activity in and around the Jackson, Madison County area," the unit stated in a news release Monday.
Undercover officers arranged to meet with individuals soliciting sex and individuals offering to sell sex at the Courtyard Marriott on Campbell Oaks Drive. Police took the individuals into custody after they arrived and either paid or accepted money.

The metro narcotics unit noted that prostitution cases are commonly linked with illegal narcotic use. An additional two suspects were arrested on drug and weapon charges, according to the release. Officers recovered 170.5 grams of marijuana, one gram of powder cocaine, two bottles of THC oil, THC candies, drug paraphernalia and a .40 caliber handgun during the operation.
