Prospects for implementing rural infrastructure projects were discussed with UNDP representatives


Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Samandar Sadullayev held a meeting with the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, Akiko Fujii.

During the meeting, the current status of the jointly implemented projects “Sustainable Rural Development” and “Integrated Rural Development” (Phase II), as well as the results achieved, existing challenges, and ways to address them were discussed.

In particular, the parties spoke about organizing joint monitoring visits to the project sites and showcasing the lessons learned from the projects at regional and national forums.

Additionally, special attention was given to activities being carried out in the following areas within the project framework: promoting the efficient use of water and electricity in rural areas, scaling up the use of “green energy” technologies, improving access to drinking water for the population, enhancing schools’ access to modern information technologies, introducing resource-saving technologies in public facilities, expanding the use of modern irrigation systems, and increasing incomes in remote areas by creating new job opportunities.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the upcoming activities and priorities planned for the second half of 2025 and agreed to continue close cooperation for the effective implementation of the projects.
