Prompt Testing Assistant
Digital nomads. Work from anywhereCompany: JHC Consulting
JHC Consulting provides counsel to boards, chief executives, and heads of industry. Our firm is recognized for its commitment to the written word, as we believe that writing is the primary vehicle for sharp thinking. Because artificial intelligence tools are increasingly utilized by our clients, we must understand their capabilities and their failures with absolute precision. We are adding a Prompt Testing Assistant to our team to help bridge the gap between human logic and machine output. This is an entry level, part-time contract role that is conducted entirely in a fully remote capacity.
The Role
As a Prompt Testing Assistant, you will interact with large language models to determine how well they can handle the complex corporate and strategic scenarios we encounter in our practice. This is not a role for casual users of technology. You will be tasked with providing rigorous, structured inputs that test the boundaries of a model's reasoning, tone, and factual accuracy.
On a regular basis, your work will include:
* Drafting and refining prompts based on specific analytical frameworks provided by our principals.
* Reading and documenting the responses produced by the AI, noting where the logic holds and where it falters.
* Identifying hallucinations or instances where the model uses vapid corporate language instead of precise argument.
* Summarizing your findings in clear, concise internal reports that follow our firm's standard for written clarity.
* Comparing the outputs of different models to see which best aligns with JHC Consulting's standards of intellectual rigor.
* Assisting in the maintenance of a database of successful and unsuccessful prompting techniques.
What You Bring
This position is designed for an individual early in their career who possesses exceptional reading and writing skills. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you must be comfortable with the logic of language. We value transparency, the ability to follow a process precisely, and the common sense required to spot an argument that makes no sense.
We require:
* A strong academic background in the humanities, social sciences, or a related field where writing and logic are central.
* The ability to write sentences that are clear, direct, and free of filler.
* A basic curiosity about how large language models function and their limitations.
* High attention to detail, especially when reviewing long sequences of text for contradictions.
* The discipline to work autonomously in a remote setting while meeting strict deadlines.
* A thoughtful approach to criticism and the willingness to revise your work multiple times.
How We Work
JHC Consulting operates differently than other advisory firms. We do not participate in large group meetings that lack a clear agenda, and we do not produce slide decks. Our output consists of signed memoranda. This means every piece of work we produce is authored by a specific person who takes full responsibility for its content. Even as an assistant, your contributions will be subject to this level of scrutiny. We believe that by signing our names to a page, we commit to the honesty and quality of the argument presented there.
Working at JHC Consulting
This role is fully remote. You will have the freedom to work from the location of your choosing, provided you have a stable internet connection and the quiet space necessary for focused reading and writing. As a part-time contract role, it is ideal for those who perhaps have other academic or personal commitments but wish to engage in high-level analytical work. We offer competitive pay that is attractive for an entry level position and reflects the importance we place on the assistant's role in our research. You will find that we value quiet competence over decorative enthusiasm.
Every engagement we take on results in a signed memorandum that stays on file for years. Because of this, the work we do today must stand the test of time. We expect our Prompt Testing Assistants to approach their tasks with the same sense of weight and purpose. You will be helping us define how high-level advisory work integrates with new technologies without sacrificing the intellectual depth for which our firm is known. The discovery of a model's weakness is just as valuable to us as the discovery of a strength, as both contribute to the sober counsel we provide to our clients.
