Position summary
The Program Coordinator of USG Alumni Program is responsible for coordinating and enhancing alumni engagement activities for U.S. Government exchange program alumni in Uzbekistan. The role involves planning and executing alumni-led educational projects, facilitating networking opportunities, organizing events, and maintaining effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders, including alumni, vendors, and government representatives. The Coordinator will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to assess program effectiveness and areas for improvement.
The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Manager in Tashkent and works closely with program staff in the Washington, D.C. office of American Councils and the Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the U.S Embassy Tashkent. As part of the team, the Program Coordinator will contribute to the overall success of alumni programming, including logistics, event planning, and strategic initiatives aimed at fostering ongoing engagement within the alumni community.
Responsibilities
The Program Coordinator’s specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Facilitate alumni-led educational projects that address local community needs in Uzbekistan.
• Increase engagement and communication between U.S. government exchange program alumni through alumni gatherings, such as conferences and workshops.
• Collaborate with Regional Alumni Representatives (RARs) to ensure access to networking, professional development, and knowledge exchange opportunities for alumni.
• Source, evaluate, and select vendors based on project requirements and budget constraints.
• Oversee the purchasing process, including negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
• Coordinate shipment logistics to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources for alumni projects.
• Assist in managing the project budget, ensuring financial accountability in vendor services related to alumni programming.
• Travel as needed to engage with key target audiences, implement project events, and provide training and monitoring support.
• Assist in data collection and processing related to alumni activities and program outcomes.
• Assist in preparing, posting, and managing social media publications to maintain alumni engagement.
• Respond to inquiries from alumni regarding program activities, opportunities, and general information.
• Provide administrative support, including assisting in the preparation of reports, presentations, and communication materials.
• Collaborate closely with government officials, American experts, and faculty within Uzbekistan to ensure smooth program operations.
• Manage event logistics and coordinate with vendors for venue, catering, and other event-related services.
• Support coordination of American Councils’ Insider Tour Program and alumni engagement activities in the regions in Spring 2026.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the Program Manager or Country Director.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education, Education Policy, Project Management, Business, Public Policy, or Humanities.
• Fluency in Uzbek and/or Russian (native-level proficiency) and English.
• Minimum of one year of experience in education, program management, or administration.
• Proven experience in alumni relations, event management, and networking.
• Excellent time management, organizational, and planning skills.
• Proactive and flexible self-starter, able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and build relationships with stakeholders.
• Familiarity with the education systems in Uzbekistan and the United States.
• Experience working in multicultural environments, including with U.S. government-funded programs, is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed, and work during weekends and evenings when necessary.
• Budget management experience and financial accountability skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, social media platforms, and other digital communication tools.
