Program Assistant – FLEX Program

The Program Assistant is responsible for promotion, recruitment, administration, mentorship, support for American Councils’ FLEX program in Uzbekistan, secondary exchange and development program. As a key member of the American Councils Uzbekistan team, the Program Assistant will also be expected to support and administer daily programming tasks. This position reports to a Program Manager/Officer, and will also work directly with program staff in Tashkent, Uzbekistan office. The position is offered full-time from August 2021 till February 2022 and is subject to extension based on performance review.

Job Responsibilities
Activities related to FLEX exchange program. Day-to-day, the position involves:
- Creating, codifying, and disseminating program and marketing material in English, Russian, and Uzbek;
- Prepare direct mailings to Uzbekistan schools announcing the FLEX competition;
- Assist in accepting, tracking, and verifying participant documents – application forms, permission forms, health forms, etc.;
- Conducting informational meetings for program participants, parents, school directors;
- Leading on logistical preparations and meeting schedules for events including program orientations, trainings, or visits by FLEX program team to regions of Uzbekistan;
- Arranging travel and logistics, responsible for compiling receipts for expense reports;
- Working with participants to obtain and translate documents needed for program participation;
- Traveling for recruitment, project events, and monitoring as necessary (10%-50%);
- Communicating with participants and supporting FLEX alumni events and programming.
Quaifications
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a relevant field of study
- Must speak, read and write Uzbek and/or Russian with native level proficiency / Fluency in English
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in education, educational management or administration, office administration, personnel management
- Outstanding time management, organization, and planning skills
- Proactive, independent, and flexible in task management and program implementation
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and multicultural interpersonal skills
- Well-developed knowledge of the education system in Uzbekistan and the United States at all levels
- Experience traveling under difficult conditions
- Flexibility to occasional work on weekends and evenings
- Experience in budget management
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software suite and common social media platforms
Compensation
