The new bureau headed by the boxing legend is expected to promote professionalism and development of the sport at home and abroad.

The executive body of the Professional Boxing Committee of Cameroon has been commissioned into function. The new bureau headed by boxing legend, Issa Hamza, was officially installed recently in Yaounde. The commission is expected to take care of professional boxers in Cameroon.

Speaking at the occasion, the President of the Cameroon Boxing Federation, Betrand Mendouga called on the new bureau to revive professional boxing in Cameroon. He has the task of selecting boxers and train them for competitions. He said professional boxing is the end of amateur boxing. He said the federation wants to assure that boxers who are at the end of their career will not be forgotten but they can still compete.

According to Mendouga Betrand, Issa Hamza is the right person to manage the committee. He said Issa Hamza has passed through all the stages. Issa Hamza is expected to promote the professionalisation and development of the sport at home and abroad, detect talents and organise competitions.

The 43-year-old Yaoundé-born athlete won over 15 fights in his career, smashing all sorts of record en route to becoming the world’s best in the discipline during his hay days. Issa Hamza promised that he and his team will work hard to contribute to the development of professional boxing in Cameroon.

One of the members, former champion of Cameroon, Adamou Ali said they will work with Issa to improve boxing in Cameroon. He said the team will organise an international boxing competition in Cameroon in which boxers from many countries will be taking part.
