Private zoo experience must be booked 72 hours in advance by calling 703/757-6222. Must have a minimum of 10 people but no more than 25 people total on the tour.
Avoid crowds and lines while experiencing your own private zoo tour. Over the course of about two hours, you encounter animals on the safari, in the aviary, and throughout the zoo with the help of your own tour guide. This exclusive opportunity provides a relaxing and enriching environment in which you learn about 50+ species of animals from around the world and come face to face with most of them.
The private zoo experience price is all inclusive: Guided walking tour, Safari Tram ride with tour guide, closer animal encounters, 1 cup of animal feed and a COVID-friendly private Zoo environment. Additional feed is available for purchase if you choose.

During the summer months, tours are only available on weekday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Please contact us for more info.

Wow your guests by hosting your event at the Detroit Zoo after hours. You and your guests will enjoy exclusive access to the Zoo for a strolling reception or a casual American picnic. The Zoo offers your guests 125 acres of true-to-life habitats that are home to more than 3,000 animals.
Catering or a concession package is required. Food and beverage service is through the Detroit Zoo Catering Department, “Taste”.
“Private Zoo Evening” rentals at the Detroit Zoo are available daily, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., June through August. To confirm your date today, contact our Events team at (248) 336-5745 or use the form below.
