But, all the negative reviews on this app? Are we sure it’s not user error or network configuration issues or something and not actually in any way related to the functionality of this app? If you have a PrivateTunnel subscription and are logged in, it’s as simple as choosing your virtual server and clicking the big green ‘connect’ button. At least in my experience. The OpenVPN connect app is pretty good, too. If, for example, you have a lifetime plan at ‘AcmeVPN’ and are able to access the OpenVPN configuration files for the service, it’s easy to import them into the OpenVPN connect app (at least it has been since the latest update: That app was not without problems importing valid credentials not too long ago). That app works great now. I have dozens of config files in my Connect app (including the ones I downloaded from my portal, the ones used by this app) and they all work. I can pick the different IP, UDP vs TCP, etc. Plus, it allows you to use the OpenVPN protocol with the ‘AcmeVPN’ service you’re already paying for anyway. Otherwise you’re stuck using the default iOS IKEv2 (not that that’s inherently bad). I digress.
I’ve tried multiple VPN is found on the App Store, very few have the features that I need, never had a problem with connectivity and speeds are decent, this is the only VPN I have found so far that offers the ability of changing it to a TCP setting, however from our uses I wish there was an option where you can actually tell it which WiFi that you do not want VPN on that way you don’t have to worry about switching it on and off in the app as you move from one Wi-Fi to another. Example having it turned on while at work or at the grocery store, and having it automatically switch off while you’re on your home network.
Started out great. No issues. Tap home screen button, choose your location and swipe to open. Starting about 2 weeks ago, now I tap on icon and asks if I want to download app. Tap that and then I have to hit the “get” button, then it opens. I don’t get it. It was so easy before and I don’t know why I have to go through 4 additional steps to open it. I still have it 4 star because when it was working, it was friggin awesome. Any ideas would be great. Sorry about contacting you through Reviews but I did not see any Support links. Help please.
You seem to be using our other app OpenVPN Connect. Please launch the Private Tunnel app from its own icon and not from the Connect app, as we have now removed Private Tunnel functionality from the "generic" OpenVPN Connect app. This will save you the extra click.

The developer, OpenVPN Technologies , has not provided details about its privacy practices and handling of data to Apple. For more information, see the developer’s privacy policy .

Great app - on my iPhone. On my Fire HD I got to the Connect screen and "OK" would not work - only Cancel. I emailed the App developer and received this reply: "I'm sorry as we don't officially support that device. If your device supports the OpenVPN protocol or has an app that supports it, then you can download the connection profile from the Settings page by clicking on Download Profile. You can open it with text editor to extract the needed configuration and certificates to import it in to your device" Unsure if Fire issue, or App issue, but believe the Amazon App store needs an info box on each app that notes devices supported vs. those not supported to allow customers to better select apps that are compatible with Amazon devices.

I recommend this app as a choice to try as I don't have copyrights to download from here though I download and probably I couldn't on Google play neither( my location is not on the country lists and I don't know if I could download free apps.). Sorry that I won't tell much about this app to help( you know in a world like this mostly, so). I need this to prevent Chinese government from knowing what they shouldn't know. Though they think that they are smarter to rob so that they take advantages. This need to be a safe environment. I need to reduce some of my time on websites like Amazon and so on from some months ago for browsing in a safe environment only, but definitely worth to do so( though not by this directly). I have taken a few of my orders back to purchase though the government now try to give pressures on my financial, I have to deal with my financial now. I am grateful for this presence because this helps me.

So far no popup ads like hotspot shield ,the app includes 100mb but then you have to purchase more it does not specify how much this is. you can also earn mb by referring a friend. I was able to get netflix on my kindle fire hd which i am normally blocked from because i am in Turkey. If is is reasonably priced i will purchase more mb when i run out. The app is easy, you create a email and password then check your email for an activation link then you start with 100mb free. I will just keep it disconnected unless i am accessing netflix or another site i am blocked from.

I regret signing up for this VPN. The free trial is inadequately short, seemingly intended to force a financial commitment, with the refund turning into an insane obstacle course. The developer offers a ridiculously short time to test drive this expensive app. Following the sign up, the app worked almost as advertised, if fraught with frequent crashes whose frequency grew at an ever growing rate. Customer service is polite, if sporadic and very slow to respond. When the app runs its sorry course, and following my many positive experiences with Asian businesses on Amazon, I will look for a vpn among those companies.

It's easy to use which is fantastic. I only gave it four stars because of my lack of knowledge since I bought it hoping to stay up with my Netflix shows while traveling internationally. It does not do that. My fault, not the fault of the product, but now pretty useless and I already paid for a year's worth of service.

Works great. You do need to pay for use however ($10 for 100GB) but that's no reason to rate the app lower; works, doesn't crash, reliable. Everyone wants "free" everything now a days, but I'll take paying for an app that works well over free sketchy apps any day.
