[Alt-tracker] For a download of a private torrents, the user authentication stored in the torrent.
Would it be possible that a metadata request only the pure metadata is transferred? User authentication should be covered by the magnet link.
The functionality required to allow magnets to work is disabled on private flagged torrents.
Private torrent are quite be necessary.
What needs to be changed to allow transmission of metadata (from the seeder to leecher) works for a private torrent when you open a magnet link?

It's not going to work because the private flag implies specific information that's required.
If you're going to private flag torrents, distribute the .torrent files and don't try to rely on magnet links.

If I understand it right, then only the information ($TorrentContent['info']) are required for the creation of InfoHash.
I think it is not necessary to store the torrent files on a server and then to distribute them.
The difference to a private torrent has is that DHT, LPD and PEX are off. Or?
I think it would be good, when I start a Private-Torrent-Magnet-Link only the information of $TorrentContent['info'] are transmitted.

If you want the torrent private enough to use the private flag, you're going to need to also have a tracker and distribute the .torrent file manually.
Private flagged torrents are mutually exclusive to use with magnets.

Manual distribution is no longer appropriate.
The distribution of metadata should start automatically. Is a torrent marked as private, then only the contents of $TorrentContent['info'] to be transmitted to the leechers.
But this can only choose the program, uTorrent will in future provide the possibility or do I have to find myself another program?

Hi there , lately I have some troubles with Magnet Links, I'm in few Private Trackers and have set utorrent in order to maintain a ratio , when I tryed to use a Public tracker like Pirate Bay with Magnet links , at fiirst instance does't work , then when turned on DHT, checked Peer Exchange ,and so on, began to work .
My question is : Am I comdemned to be always a leecher in those Public Trackers ?. Because my membership in Private Trackers is dependent of the ratio which is dependent of the setting of uTorrent ( I mean DHT turned off,Peer Exchange disabled ,and so on) I need to undo those settings for the Magnet Links.
Is anybody out there with the same issue? How does it was solved?
My current version of uTorrent is 3.2 my O.S. is Windows XP SP3, when I tryed to maintain the setting for Magnet Links to work I have some funny behavior of my client ,I mean : the yellow triangle in the right bottom corner, sometimes my seedings torrents were in red ,and nobody leechs of me.
Hope you dear fellowmates understand my broken english and give some tips to solve this trouble.

If the private tracker requires you to turn off DHT globally in your client, it's run by idiots.

Maybe, but , It means Private and Public trackers are irreconcillable between each other?. I will need two clients for torrents?.

The private flag in torrents prevents the "peer leakage" that the admins that claim DHT does when enabled. If they're using it and saying that DHT needs to be off, they're idiots and aren't worth your bandwidth.

This might be true but there is a big lack of knowledge out there or just maybe too much paranoia. Every private tracker has these rules in place and they also have measures of some kind in place that if you don't have them disabled the tracker doesn't even let you connect to any peers at all. I don't know of any private trackers that allow these to be enabled.

DHT and Peer Exchange can be disabled on a per-torrent basis, which should happen automatically when the Private flag is set in a torrent. It is not necessary to disable DHT globally to be allowed to use private trackers (at least not in my experience), just make sure DHT and Peer Exchange are disabled in a private torrent's properties before starting the torrent.
