Private Taxi Insurance Vs Public Taxi Insurance

Private Taxi Insurance Vs Public Taxi Insurance

In taxi insurance, you have two separate heads. One is for private taxi and the other is for public taxi. It depends on your license. If your work for a private taxi company, then you fall under private insurance. If you have been a public taxi driver, then you can take public insurance for the same.

Another way of differentiating both are based on bookings. In a private taxi, you have to book your ride in advance but in a public taxi, no booking is required. You can get a taxi anywhere on the road. It is easy to figure out if a taxi is public or private based on the shape of the car.

In both private and public, there is reward cover. In both you carry passengers and, they give you a fee. So, there are certain similarities between both as well. It is mandatory to take taxi insurance in case of the public taxi but, in private your company can fulfill such obligations. When you get insurance, you have to submit all the paperwork for any legal requirements.

Expenses

If we compare both of these taxi insurance, then the public is more expensive than private. The only reason is that public taxi drivers have to be prepared and present at the right place to get passengers. No booking feature is present for them. Moreover, they do not have any superiors above them to look into such matters. They are the sole owner. They also have to drive in busy areas to find passengers and have to travel across streets. Therefore, chances of mishaps are more common in public taxis.

Passengers

In the case of private taxis, only standard and class people do a booking. They are learned enough to behave and follow the rules. But in the case of public taxis, the driver never knows what kind of passenger will enter. Sometimes people are so rogue that they damage the insides or create havoc. Mostly, drunk people at night look for taxis and end up in public taxis. Therefore, taxi insurance for public taxis is much more required.

Cash

While traveling public drivers carry a lot of cash with them. They have to keep changing with them. Then they receive a fee and rewards. Often they to the accounting at the end of the day. In case they get robbed, they will lose much more. Whereas, in private taxis, drivers receive money digitally as well. They are more prominent and systematic in carrying money and handling such matters. Therefore, taxi insurance is more important for public drivers.

This being said, it is not like private taxis should not get insurance. For them too, accidents and similar situations can happen anytime. One cannot forecast such things before. So, to be on the safer side it is better to take insurance in both these cases. Nothing worse will happen if you have taxi insurance. But if you do not have, then worse things can happen. So, act accordingly.
