“The book’s strength lies in the quality and breadth of insights and experience offered by Green. As such, it gives the reader a method to conceptualise and create a language to describe the phenomenology observed….Green’s main contributions lies in the clarification and conceptualisation of psychoanalytic findings and in developing a language that contributes greatly to psychoanalytic thought and its metapsychology. At the same time, he also helps to bridge the gap in understanding between the Anglo-Saxon and French analytic traditions. I highly recommend this book to both experienced practitioners and students alike.” (Ricardo Stramer The Journal of the British Association of Psychotherapists ) “Andre Green’s On Private Madness presents a rich assortment of the author’s psychoanalytic contributions. His fluency in English is matched by an extraordinary familiarity with American and English contributions, especially those of Winnicott, Bion, Klein, Khan, Hartmann, Kernberg and Kohut, all of which he ably integrates with those of Lacan, Bouvet, McDougall and other French sources to give an integrated treatise on object relations and its dialectical interface with structuralism, a problem that has concerned Dr. Green for some time….” (James Grotstein, author of A Beam of Intense Darkness)

The article in dead mother was riveting.

I appreciate Karnac's initiative to have more e-books, but the typos and the misspellings are frankly embarrassing. I would have rather bought the paper version.

This was my first book by this author. I would like to refer the reader to my comment about his book "Life Narcissim, Death Narcissism". (Both are excellent) Here Green talks about Borderline, Affect,The Silence of the Analyst, Why evil etc. He seems to have the capacity to make new and simpler connections between the different psychological notions in our brain, so that hopefully after reading this book you would understand more and have a mind less burdened with "theorethical" knowledge. With other words ideally it would become a piece of therapy.

GREAT COMMUNICATION; EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECTLY!

'The Dead Mother' significantly develops post Freudian psychoanalysis.

A very good collection of Green's work. 'The Dead Mother' chapter particularly develops the central position of the mother indicated by object relations theory and the work of Melanie Klein.

The author occupies a unique position in psychoanalysis today, and his work represents a synthesis of the traditions of Lacan, Winnicott and Bion. This volume collects fourteen of his papers together with a substantial introduction. The papers range widely across clinical and theoretical issues including borderline states, the true and false self, and narcissism. On Private Madness has achieved the status of a modern psychoanalytic classic, and this new impression will be welcomed by all those admirers of the author who wish to have these seminal papers collected together.

This one had potential to bee a great movie, but...
There were things I liked about this movie and things I didn't like about it. Woodman usually delivers good sex scenes, but he's no master of story based porno movies. He uses way too much time on the story and that makes the sex scenes suffer a little. The story should be used to give us exciting sex scenes and it should be done as quickly as possible so you can watch it, without your dick going soft. The sad thing is that this movie could have been really great with a few changes to it. There is a total of 8 scenes in this movie. Because this movie is almost 3 hours long 8 scenes doesn't feel like too much. But some of the scenes should have been longer and if the story part was done better and shorter, it could have been possible. There is 12 different girls in action in this movie. While some might think that that is a great thing, it really isn't the case here. The problem is every girl only gets to be in one scene. And the cast isn't as hot as in some of Private's other movies. According to the DVD report this was shot in Mexico and they used some local Mexican girls for some of the parts. These girls played maids and prostitutes, but they weren't as hot as some of the other girls in the cast. There were however some really hot girls like Agnes (Dora), Melody Kord, Judith Fox and Gabriella Tcheckan that should have gotten more screen time. Another problem with this movie was the lack of diversity in the sex scenes. Out of the 8 scenes a total of 5 scenes were plain boy girl scenes. And to my surprise there weren't any DP scenes at all. That was really surprising as Private and Pierre Woodman usually deliver some really steamy DP scenes with hot girls. However, some of the settings for the scenes were really good. I liked the sauna setting for one of the threesomes and the infinity pool setting for the boy girl scene. Out of the scenes there were a few I liked a lot. Judith Fox had a really hot scene with a guy in a infinity pool. I liked the setup for the scene and the actual scene was really hot thanks to Judith's performance. This girl has a hot body and we see her put it on display in several different positions. Gabriella Tcheckan also delivered a hot performance in her scene. This girl is a absolute stunning looking blonde with a great body and big natural breasts. This scene actually had a position I can't seem to recall seeing before in porn. It had both Gabriella and the guy on their knees facing each other on the bed. And from this position the guy was sticking his dick inside Gabriella, but Gabriella wasn't separating her legs for easy access. I think I've seen it a time or two with both the guy and the girl standing up facing each other, and having sex without the girl separating her legs for easier access. Well, the position wasn't anything extra hot in itself, but it's nice to see something new even after watching literally thousands of boy girl scenes. The best scene in the movie was the scene with Agnes (Dora). In the scene she has sex with a guy showing her a house. Agnes is the best looking out of the girls. She has a really beautiful face and a spectacular body with a great tan. She looks so good when she rides the guy in the reverse cowgirl position. It would have been such a pleasure to watch this girl get double teamed by two guys. But the other scenes weren't as good. Some were nice but they all had their problems. The threesome in the sauna was a nice scene with some pretty girls, but the problem was that Gabriella Tcheckan and Melody Kord was on the outside looking in, and they would have been way hotter to use for this scene. It would have made more sense too to have Gabriella and Melody enter the sauna after a workout at the gym and then end up having sex with the guy in the sauna, instead of throwing 2 new girls in there. The scene in the mental institution was quite good too, but ultimately a bit of a disappointment. That scene should have been a orgy, instead of a "nigger" screwing all the women. I have no idea why this scene didn't have another guy or two in it, so that they could have given the girls some double pleasure. The scene with Melody would have been better too if the maid didn't get involved. She just wasn't hot enough for this movie. Melody was doing a fine job on her own up until that point. All in all this is a movie with some good scenes that could have been great with a few changes here and there.
