Creating a Listing

You can use private, custom listings in your Etsy shop to allow your buyers to purchase made-to-order items. You'll be able to add this feature once your shop is open to the public.
A  Request Custom Order  link will appear on your shop homepage.
The maximum processing time you can place on a custom order is 6-8 weeks.
When a buyer clicks Request Custom Order , they'll see a window where they can describe what they're looking for and the date they need it by (if there is a deadline).
If you need more information, send your buyer a message to work out the details.
When the buyer initially requests an item, you'll receive a message. Look for it in your Custom Requests folder.
Once you work out the details of exactly what the buyer wants and how much it will cost, create a custom, private listing directly from the original Custom Request Message thread.
It's not possible to choose a calculated shipping profile for custom orders at this time.
Enabling custom order requests shows buyers that you can work with them to create custom, one-of-a-kind items.
Listings created from a custom request are private between you and the buyer. Creating a private listing from a custom request begins a flow of communication between you and your buyer.
If you want to offer specific options that don't require further customization or communication between you and your buyer, you can use Variations to offer different sizes, colors, styles, or other options.

Ever stumble across an eBay listing that didn't let you see its list of previous bidders ? Or feedback containing items that you couldn't view? Both of these result from private listings , which allow eBay sellers to keep these things from public view using a simple listing upgrade on the selling form .

It probably rings a bell. There are a lot of private listings on eBay, even if they're not the majority. But how does a seller go about listing this way, and why do they do these things? What does it mean for you?

It's easy to create a private listing on eBay and results in no extra fees. Here's how:

That's all there is to it—the listing you've just posted is private. In practice, this means simply that:

Despite what eBay lore often says, there are legitimate reasons why a seller might find that private listings help them serve their customers and do better business:

Sometimes eBayers are confused by the differences between private feedback and private listings , with the stigma associated with one coming to affect peoples' impressions of the other.

Private feedback usually indicates a troubled eBay account with too many negatives—though even this isn't always the case. For example, a buyer who has purchased a sensitive item from a non-private listing may choose to make their feedback private for a time for similar reasons to those given above.
