Interesting and arousing almost-story film in this Euro series
The GAIA films have been imported to America as a set, and this particular title is one of the better offerings. Though shot on video it is closer to traditional porn films than the current wall-to-wall approach, resembling the Marc Dorcel product, though made on a less grand scale.
Aiding its consumption is the cast speaking in English, made possible by the presence of American guest stars. Jonathan Morgan plays himself, a porn video director, giving us a video-within-a-video format (ATTN: IMDb maven who studies the "folds within folds" cinema, here's another title for you to suffer through).
The beautiful European femmes, cast for variety (different looks, different body types) don't have to say much as the always loquacious Morgan does all the talking. You gotta admire the guy: he ended up marrying super-duper softcore sex star Nikki Fritz! Roles are unidentified but the actress portraying Clarisse is effective, especially in lesbian action. A supporting brunette actress with tattoos is very pretty, resembling American softcore great Shauna O'Brien. For fetishes there's a display of patent leather, boots and gloves, a la Nick Millard.
Director Christophe Clark, prominent in the cast as well, presents the sex scenes concisely, giving the viewer lots of scenes rather than the interminable 20-minute exercises in boredom one has come to expect. At one point Clark is the voyeur, watching lesbian sex but he can't resist and joins them for a threesome. As Mel Brooks would say, it's good to be king (or in this case a porn actor/director).
Other standouts are Wanda Curtis (playing a new actress threatening to replace star Clarisse), who in real life later migrated to America for a successful career here, and a busty blonde who suggests what French star Arielle Dombasle might look like had she foolishly gotten a boob job.
Film also includes a risquรฉ fashion show which successfully combines classiness and sleaziness, no mean feat. Least successful element is an attempt at suspense regarding Clarisse's fate -it just doesn't work.
Hardly memorable, it's an OK video, far more interesting than the all-sex filler that Clark currently cranks out for John Stagliano's company.
