With an original 2020 wedding date, we had an unexpected layer of stress during the planning stages — but all of that was dissipated and reduced by the Private Estate dynamic duo that is Ripley and Jack. We postponed our wedding twice (from 2020 to 2022) and they were both extremely accommodating during the process. From being flexible to providing valuable advice (on everything from wedding day flow to tent placement), Ripley and Jack are THE reason to choose A Private Estate.

Of course, it's one of the most beautiful venues in the Hudson Valley with stunning grounds and facilities but it's the additional planning support, vendor relationships and day-of management that make this the premier wedding venue. They went above and beyond to make sure that we, our family (who also stayed in the Carriage House on the property) and our guests had an amazing time. Another big advantage to A Private Estate is access to the neighboring property, Holcroft House, a beautiful historic home where some family stayed and where we took our first-look photos with gorgeous views.

And Jack!!! A true jack of all trades felt like our right-hand man the entire weekend, even helping assemble and build some of the DIY elements and decor that we made. It was a huge help and another advantage to choosing A Private Estate.

And when it comes to the property (that truly shows off the beauty of the Hudson), it's like having 10 venues in one, full of multiple mini locations where you can use for multiple events from the welcome area, ceremony site, cocktail hour, reception and more. We originally opted for the barn for the reception but ended up changing to the ceremony tent site due to the impeccable views. After saying "I do" at the ceremony site, we had cocktail hour by the pond and to the left of the house so we would have unobstructed views of the house in our wedding photos. I don't think words can adequately describe how magical of a day our wedding was! The whole weekend felt like an absolute dream. Ripley and Jack go above and beyond to make sure every couple feels special and the day goes perfectly. From the ceremony to the reception everything went seamlessly and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location. The grounds in June are incredible and there is something about being nestled in the mountains on the river that makes everything feel a bit more magical! A bald eagle even made a guest appearance during our ceremony!! Our guests raved about how beautiful everything was and our stay in the carriage house was the cherry on top!

Despite seeing this location for the first time in the depths of winter with thick snow on the ground it didn't detract from the spectacular view which is stunning. From the moment we met Ripley and her Estate Manager Jack I knew we were in good hands. Alix and Ben wanted an elegant rustic style wedding and that's certainly what they got. We had several meetings on site (including accommodating us on a Sunday as I live in the south) and nothing was too much trouble. Ripley gave us a list of recommended vendors, all excellent. Don't be deterred by the fact there are several moving parts getting guests from the ceremony and cocktail location on the river and up to the barn for dinner. Jack's organization and coordination on the day of the wedding was first class and everything went like clock work. As the mother of the bride I couldn't have wished for a better day and thrilled that my daughter had the wedding she dreamed of. I highly recommend this venue.

A Private Estate Events is a secluded 19th-century Livingston mansion welcoming couples from beginning of May until November in the heart of the Hudson Valley , north of Rhinebeck NY and south of Hudson, NY. Merely a two hour drive or Amtrak ride, north of New York City and three hours directly west of Boston its perfect for a day trip or weekend away. This manicured National Register property features both riverside grounds and an historic barn complex. The half-mile of riverside frontage is dotted with three hundred year old oak trees and an acre lake. Wedding Ceremonies take place over looking both the Hudson river and the Catskill mountains or on our new riverside tent site or in front of the lake. In the Fall of 2019 a dedicated tent space perched over the river that can accomodate the largest of wedding receptions opened with a promenade below it. It features free wifi for LIVESTREAMING. The 19th-century barn complex where rehearsal dinners or wedding receptions can be held sits upon the hill behind the mansion and Carriage House- there is wifi there too. You can make a whole weekend of it with touch football in the Garden area or a morning brunch the day after. We are here for you!
Facilities and Capacity With a maximum capacity of 275 guests, couples can host their ceremonies and receptions on the intimate estate grounds. The well-groomed lawn offers both a ceremony space and a custom tent space both with backdrops of the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains. The white mansion's veranda and its surrounding grounds which overlooks both these spaces with its tall windows and grand porticos is the perfect place for your cocktail hour. The barn complex features a brick barn with indoor bathrooms, large caterers prep kitchen, potable water, indoor bathrooms (2 mens, 2 women, 1 handicapped) and alternative ceremony space. The wood barn has two levels and exposed wood rafters for a romantic country feel and can seat up to 120 people without additonal tenting less with social distancing. Its stone patio is ideal for dancing. The bespoke fire pit is managed by the staff and our Adirondack chairs are placed around the fire pit and the lawns for your guests enjoyment.
The venue offers on site property manager that coordinates with your vendors throughout your wedding weekend. He is not in lieu of a planner. A Private Estate also offers additonal staffing for every aspect of your event.
WE ALSO OFFER MICRO WEDDING PACKAGES for those of you who want to spend only a few hours on the property. We do have Corona Virus Protocols that include constant wiping of high touch points and a portable dual, no touch handwashing station for the Riverside grounds.
Accommodations Two homes on the property offer accommodations to couples and their guests. The Carriage House sleeps up to 12 in its four bedrooms (3 with en-suite bathrooms) and upstairs living area. The Carriage House is fully air-conditioned with fiber optic wifi, smart tv, working ice maker, full laundry facility including a steamer for your formalwear. In the autumn months aged wood is provided for the wood-burning fireplace. Rental of the Carriage house is required in the Fall , June, August and holiday weekends but 90 % of our wedding couples rent it anyway as its the perfect place for the bride and her friends to get ready and provides a place for children and baby sitters to be parked during the wedding reception that is only two minutes away. The second option for lodging is our Creekside Cabin. Built in 2017, the cabin is fully air conditioned and heated and can sleep up to 6. It was designed for the groom and his friends or a family with kids. It has fiber optic wifi, working ice maker and covered porch that overlooks a woodland stream.

Private Estate is one of my favorite locations to photograph a wedding. It offers a wonderful view of the Hudson river. I love the architecture of the barn and the intimate atmosphere it creates. There are so many locations to make timeless photos and portraits of the bride and the groom. I highly recommend it.
What an amazing atmosphere for a wedding. We had a great experience working with Ripley and Jack, and hope to work again at a Private Estate again. A great value with all it has to offer. A well maintained and loved gem.
Elegance at it's best! From the beautiful front lawn over looking the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains, to the unique barn setting with an excellent outdoor patio setting, A Private Estate is no question, a venue like no other!!!
