Privacy Policy — Gym Era

Artem Leshchenko

This Privacy Policy explains how Gym Era collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you download, install, or use the Gym Era mobile application and related features (including Gymera Pro subscriptions and optional iCloud backup).

By using Gym Era, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Who we are and scope

Gym Era is a workout tracking application that lets you browse an exercise catalog, create workout plans, log sets, track body measurements, view progress charts, and optionally unlock premium exercises through a paid subscription (Gymera Pro).

This Policy applies to:

  • the Gym Era iOS application;
  • in-app features that process data on your device or through Apple and Google services described below;
  • communications you send us about privacy or support.

This Policy does not apply to third-party websites or services that you open from the App on your own initiative (for example, optional YouTube links), which are governed by their own privacy policies.

2. Our privacy principles

We designed Gym Era so that your workout data primarily stays under your control:

  1. Local-first. Training plans, logged sets, measurements, preferences, and custom exercises are stored on your device.
  2. No account required by us. Gym Era does not create its own username/password account system. Sign-in, if any, is handled by Apple services you choose (for example, iCloud).
  3. No sale of personal data. We do not sell your personal information.
  4. No advertising ID tracking for ads. Gym Era does not use App Tracking Transparency, does not request tracking permission across other companies’ apps and websites, and does not run an advertising SDK for interest-based ads.
  5. Minimal analytics. We use aggregated product analytics and crash reporting to keep the App stable and improve features — not to build advertising profiles.
  6. You control cloud backup. Explicit backup/restore to your private iCloud is optional and initiated by you or by limited automatic routines described below.

3. Information we process

We process different categories of information depending on how you use the App. We do not intentionally collect government ID numbers, payment card numbers typed into the App, precise location, contacts, HealthKit clinical records, or microphone/camera captures.

3.1 Information you provide

Workout content. Workout plan names, exercise selections, set logs (reps, weight, warmup flag, optional comments), and dates/times of workouts when you create plans and log training.

Custom exercises. Names, instructions, muscle groups, equipment, difficulty, and an optional YouTube URL when you create custom exercises.

Optional photos. Images you choose from your photo library for custom exercises, only if you add a photo. Gym Era may request access to your photo library solely for this purpose. We do not upload your entire library. If you later include that exercise in an iCloud backup, the image data associated with that exercise may be included in the backup stored in your private iCloud.

Body measurements. Values you enter (for example body weight, chest, waist, hips, arms, thighs, calves) and related dates when you use measurements.

Preferences. Weight units (kg/lb), rest-timer settings, set-suggestion settings, and exercise list display mode when you change Settings.

Support messages. Email content and attachments you send to our support/privacy address if you contact us.

3.2 Information processed automatically on device

App preferences and state. Catalog seed version, Pro entitlement cache, sync timestamps, and debug flags (Debug builds only).

Derived progress. Charts, tonnage, muscle maps, and suggestion logic computed from your local logs.

3.3 Subscription and purchase information (Apple)

If you subscribe to Gymera Pro or restore purchases, Apple processes the transaction. We receive from Apple/StoreKit information needed to unlock features, such as:

  • whether an active entitlement exists;
  • product identifiers (for example weekly / monthly / yearly Gymera Pro plans);
  • renewal or expiration timing as exposed by StoreKit.

We do not receive your full payment card number. Billing is handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. You manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID / App Store subscription settings.

3.4 iCloud / CloudKit information (Apple)

If iCloud is enabled for the App and/or you use Cloud backup features, Apple may process:

  • model data synced via Apple’s CloudKit / SwiftData cloud integration (when available on your account and device);
  • an explicit backup snapshot you upload or download, stored in your private CloudKit database (container associated with the App).

Backup snapshots may include plans, set history, measurements, and custom exercises (including optional custom images and optional YouTube URLs you saved). This data is associated with your Apple ID / iCloud account, not with a separate Gym Era server account operated by us.

3.5 Diagnostics and analytics (Firebase)

We use Google Firebase services:

  • Firebase Analytics — aggregated usage events to understand feature adoption;
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash and stability diagnostics.

Custom analytics events currently include high-level product signals such as:

  • which main tab was opened;
  • that a set was logged (including whether it was marked as warmup);
  • that a custom exercise was created;
  • that charts were viewed.

These events are designed to avoid unnecessary personal content (for example, we do not intentionally send exercise names, free-text comments, photos, or measurement values in those custom events). Firebase/Google may still process device and app technical identifiers, approximate technical metadata, and diagnostic data as described in Google’s documentation and privacy policy, in order to provide Analytics and Crashlytics.

3.6 Information we do not collect (current App design)

To the best of our knowledge based on the current App design, Gym Era does not:

  • require you to create an email/password account with us;
  • access HealthKit;
  • access precise GPS location, contacts, calendar, or Bluetooth peripherals for tracking;
  • use the camera (photo library picker only, when you choose a photo);
  • use the advertising identifier (IDFA) for cross-app advertising;
  • show third-party behavioral advertising inside the App;
  • operate its own general-purpose cloud database of user workouts independent of Apple iCloud.

4. How we use information

We process information for the following purposes:

  1. Provide the core App — store and display your workouts, exercises, measurements, and progress.
  2. Premium features — verify Gymera Pro entitlement and unlock premium catalog content.
  3. Backup and continuity — enable optional iCloud backup/restore and Apple cloud sync so you can recover data or continue on another device signed into the same iCloud account.
  4. Personalization on device — units, rest timer, set suggestions, list display preferences.
  5. Reliability and improvement — Analytics and Crashlytics to find crashes, measure feature usage, and improve product quality.
  6. Customer support — respond to requests you send us.
  7. Legal compliance and safety — comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, and protect rights, users, and the integrity of the App.

We do not use your workout content to train public generative AI models as a commercial data product, and we do not sell personal information.

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another region that requires a legal basis, we rely on:

  • Contract / performance of a service — providing the App features you request (local tracking, subscriptions unlock, backup/restore you initiate).
  • Legitimate interests — app security, crash diagnosis, aggregated product analytics, fraud/abuse prevention, and improving stability, balanced against your rights.
  • Consent — where required (for example, certain photo library access prompts presented by iOS, or optional communications). You may withdraw consent where consent is the basis, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
  • Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

6. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We share or disclose information only as follows.

6.1 Service providers / processors

Apple. App distribution, StoreKit subscriptions, iCloud/CloudKit storage and sync, and operating system privacy controls. Typical data: purchase entitlements; iCloud-synced or backed-up content associated with your Apple ID.

Google (Firebase). Analytics and Crashlytics. Typical data: device/app technical data, crash diagnostics, and aggregated event parameters described above.

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies and under agreements applicable to developers.

6.2 Other disclosures

We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to:

  • comply with law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request;
  • enforce our terms or protect operations, rights, privacy, safety, or property;
  • detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues;
  • complete a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets (in which case we will take reasonable steps to require appropriate confidentiality and notice where required by law).

We do not share your workout logs with other users inside a social network feature, because Gym Era does not currently provide a public social feed.

If you open an optional external link (for example YouTube), that third party may collect information under its own policy. We are not responsible for third-party practices.

7. International transfers

Apple and Google may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards used by those providers (for example standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms described in their documentation). By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country of residence, which may have different data-protection rules.

8. Retention

On-device workout data, measurements, preferences, custom exercises/photos. Kept until you delete the data in-App (where available), delete the App, or erase the device / App data.

iCloud / CloudKit synced or backup data. Controlled by your Apple ID / iCloud settings and Apple retention practices. Deleting local data does not always delete cloud copies until you remove them via App backup controls, iCloud settings, or Apple account tools.

StoreKit entitlement state. As long as needed to provide subscription access. Historical billing records remain with Apple.

Firebase Analytics / Crashlytics. Retained according to Google Firebase retention settings and our project configuration.

Support emails. As long as needed to resolve your request and for legitimate business/legal records.

If you want data removed from your device, uninstalling the App generally removes local App storage. Removing iCloud copies may require additional steps in the App’s cloud backup controls and/or Apple Settings.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the App, including:

  • storing primary workout data locally on your device using Apple platform storage;
  • relying on Apple’s account security and encryption for iCloud/CloudKit where you enable those features;
  • limiting our own custom analytics payloads;
  • using reputable SDKs (Apple frameworks, Firebase) rather than ad-hoc insecure networking.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining control of your device passcode/biometrics and your Apple ID. If you believe there has been unauthorized access related to Gym Era, contact us promptly at leschenkoapp@gmail.com.

10. Your choices and rights

10.1 In-App and device controls

You can typically:

  • edit or delete workout-related content you created, where the App provides those controls;
  • avoid adding photos or YouTube URLs to custom exercises;
  • disable or limit iCloud for the App in iOS Settings (note: this may affect backup/sync);
  • manage or cancel Gymera Pro in Apple subscription management;
  • reset advertising/analytics-related device settings offered by Apple (system-level);
  • uninstall the App to remove local App data.

10.2 Privacy rights (depending on where you live)

Depending on applicable law (for example GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar), you may have rights to:

  • access personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete personal information;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • data portability;
  • withdraw consent where processing is consent-based;
  • opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do not sell personal information and do not engage in such advertising in the current App);
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Because most Gym Era content lives on your device and/or in your private iCloud, the most effective way to access or delete that content is usually through the App and Apple account controls. For requests that concern data processed through our Firebase project or support correspondence, email leschenkoapp@gmail.com with:

  • the subject line “Privacy Request”;
  • the request type (access, deletion, correction, etc.);
  • enough information for us to verify and locate relevant records (do not send sensitive passwords).

We may need to verify your identity and may ask clarifying questions. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

11. Children’s privacy

Gym Era is intended for a general audience of adults interested in fitness training. It is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.

If you believe a child has provided personal information to us in a way that requires parental notice or deletion under applicable law, contact leschenkoapp@gmail.com. We will take reasonable steps to delete such information where required.

Parents and guardians should supervise device use and Apple ID settings for minors.

12. Automated decision-making

Gym Era may generate on-device training suggestions (for example suggested reps/weight based on your prior logs and your settings). These suggestions are productivity features, not decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. You can ignore suggestions or disable related settings where provided.

We do not use automated profiling for advertising eligibility.

13. Push notifications, marketing, and communications

The current App design focuses on in-app use. If we later introduce push notifications or email newsletters, we will request any required permissions and update this Policy. Transactional messages about subscriptions are handled primarily by Apple.

We do not currently operate a separate marketing email list inside the App.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top and, where required, provide additional notice in the App or on the policy webpage.

Your continued use of Gym Era after an update becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy to the extent permitted by law.

15. Apple App Store disclosures (summary)

For Apple App Privacy “nutrition labels” and reviewer context, Gym Era may disclose data linked to the following practices (exact labels should match App Store Connect configuration):

Product Interaction / Usage Data. Firebase Analytics events (tabs, logging activity signals, feature opens).

Diagnostics / Crash Data. Firebase Crashlytics.

Purchases. StoreKit subscription entitlement handling via Apple.

User Content. Workout logs, custom exercises, optional photos, and measurements — primarily on device; optionally in your private iCloud.

Identifiers. Device/app identifiers as processed by Apple/Google SDKs for analytics/diagnostics (not used by us for third-party ads).

We do not collect precise location for the App’s features, and we do not use data collected from the App for third-party advertising.
