Thank you for using WebSip X. This Privacy Policy outlines how our extension handles your information. Our core principle is to collect the minimum data necessary and to ensure that you are in control of your information.

**1. What Information We Handle**

WebSip X is designed to function without collecting or storing any of your personal data on our servers. The data it interacts with is handled as follows:

* **Website Content:** When you activate the extension by clicking the "Summarize" button, the script reads the text content of your currently active browser tab. This text is used solely for the purpose of creating a summary and is not saved, stored, or transmitted by us.

* **User's API Key:** The extension requires you to provide your own Google AI Studio (Gemini) API key. This key is stored locally and securely on your computer using the standard Chrome Storage API (`chrome.storage.sync`). It is only used to make direct API calls from your browser to Google's servers. We never have access to your API key.

* **User Settings:** Settings such as your preferred theme color, dark/light mode preference, chosen interface language, and summaries you explicitly choose to save are also stored locally on your computer using the Chrome Storage API.

**2. How We Use Information**

* **To Provide the Service:** The text content from a webpage is sent directly from your browser to the Google Gemini API to generate a summary or translation. This process is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy. We act as a facilitator, and we do not see or log this information.

* **To Personalize Your Experience:** Your settings are used only to customize the extension's appearance and functionality within your browser.

**3. Data Sharing and Third Parties**

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to any third parties. The only external service the extension interacts with is the Google Gemini API, which is called directly by your browser using your own API key.

**4. Data Storage and Security**

All data handled by the extension (API Key, settings, saved summaries) is stored on your local device. It is not transmitted to or stored on any server owned or operated by WebSip X. Security of this data is handled by your browser's built-in security features.
