Privacy Policy for SubDetect Chrome Extension
SubDetect TeamPrivacy Policy for SubDetect Chrome Extension
Last Updated: June 2026
1. Introduction
SubDetect ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a privacy-first smart shopping assistant and SaaS subscription tracker operating as a browser extension. We are fully committed to protecting your online privacy.
2. Information Collection and Third-Party Data Sharing
SubDetect DOES NOT collect, store, upload, or transmit any personal, financial, or sensitive user data to external servers. We do not use any third-party analytics tracking packages, and we do not sell or trade any user information. All operation and data persistence remain 100% isolated inside your local browser ecosystem.
3. Explanation of Data Checked Locally
To fulfill its core single purpose (detecting active SaaS subscription confirmations and free trial signups), the extension utilizes the following localized browser APIs:
- Web History / URL Analysis: Checked strictly locally on the active tab to identify standard payment paths (e.g., /checkout, /billing) to wake up the internal parsing layout scanner.
- Website Content / DOM Processing: Analyzes visible text structures on active shopping pages to extract localized currency tags, subscription names, and trial period configurations. This layout parsing completely ignores security credentials, fields marked for passwords, or card autocomplete numbers.
4. Data Storage and Portability
All discovered subscription properties (Service Name, Cost, Cycle, and Billing Link) are stored locally on your physical machine via the 'chrome.storage.local' internal database API. Users maintain full control over this manifest and can delete or export their records to a CSV file at any time.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected inside the extension update package.
