The short version: Snatch does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. Everything the app does happens on your device, and we operate no servers that receive your information.

1. Who we are

Snatch (the “app”) is an Android application that lets you download videos and audio from web links you provide. The app is developed and maintained by the Snatch developer (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how the app handles information. By using Snatch, you agree to this policy.

2. We do not collect personal data

Snatch is designed to work entirely on your device. We do not collect, store on our servers, transmit to ourselves, or share any personal or sensitive user data. Specifically, the app contains:

No user accounts or sign-in. You never create an account or give us any credentials.
No analytics or usage tracking. The app bundles no analytics, telemetry, or measurement SDKs.
No advertising. There are no ads and no advertising or attribution SDKs.
No crash-reporting SDKs. Nothing about crashes or usage is sent to us or any third party.
No developer servers. We run no backend; the app never “phones home.”

3. Information stored on your device

To do its job, the app keeps the following locally on your device only. None of it is uploaded anywhere by the app:

Download history. For each download you start, the app saves details such as the media title, the source URL you entered, the chosen format/quality, file path, and status (in progress, completed, failed). This is stored in the app's private storage and is used only to show your downloads list across app restarts.
Downloaded files. The media you download is saved to your device's Downloads/Snatch folder (or, on newer Android versions, the app's own external Downloads folder). These files are yours and remain under your control.
Temporary preview thumbnails. Thumbnail images shown in the preview/format screen may be cached temporarily by the system image loader for performance.
App settings. Your in-app preferences (such as whether the optional floating download bubble is enabled) are stored locally.

4. Network connections the app makes

When you paste or share a link and start a download, the app connects directly from your device to the website (and its media/content servers) that you chose. It uses an embedded copy of the open-source yt-dlp engine to read the available formats, fetch the media, and load the preview thumbnail.

These connections go to the third party you selected (the site of the link you provided) — not to us. We do not see, log, or receive these requests.
Those third-party websites are independent services with their own privacy practices. Their handling of your request (including any IP address or device information they may log, as any web server can) is governed by their privacy policies, not this one. Please review the policies of the sites you download from.
The app does not send your download links, history, or any other data to the developer or to any analytics or advertising service.

5. Permissions and why the app requests them

The app requests only permissions needed for its core function:

Internet & network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) — to connect to the link you provide, read available formats, download the media, and check whether you are online.
Storage (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 10 and below; READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and below) — to save downloaded files to your public Downloads folder and to open or share them. On Android 11+ the app uses scoped storage and the system MediaStore, so these legacy permissions are not requested.
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — to show download progress and an ongoing notification while a download runs.
Foreground service & wake lock (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE, WAKE_LOCK) — to keep an active download running reliably while the app is in the background.
Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — optional. Used only for the floating download bubble, which appears only if you turn that feature on and grant the permission in system settings.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share any personal data with third parties, because the app does not collect personal data in the first place. The app integrates no third-party SDKs that collect data on our behalf.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because data stays on your device, it persists only for as long as you keep it there. The app's download history and settings are retained locally until you clear them; downloaded files remain until you delete them.

8. Your choices and control

Delete a download. Use the ⋮ menu on any item to remove it from the list, with the option to also delete the saved file from your device.
Clear history. Clear the downloads list from within the app.
Clear app data. In Android Settings → Apps → Snatch → Storage, choose “Clear data” / “Clear storage” to erase all local app data.
Uninstall. Removing the app deletes its private data, including the download history. (Files you already saved to the public Downloads folder remain unless you delete them.)
Revoke permissions. You can revoke any granted permission at any time in Android settings.

9. Security

Since the app keeps data on your device within Android's application sandbox and sends nothing to us, your information is protected by your device's own security model (lock screen, encryption, and OS sandboxing). Keep your device updated and secured for best protection.

10. Children's privacy

Snatch is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

11. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) and the CCPA/CPRA (California) give you rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to opt out of its sale. Because Snatch does not collect or hold any of your personal data on our side, there is nothing for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf — all your data lives on your device and is fully under your control as described above.

12. Third-party content and responsible use

Snatch is a general-purpose tool for downloading media you have the right to download. The websites you access through it are operated by third parties under their own terms of service and privacy policies. You are responsible for complying with those terms and with applicable copyright and other laws when using the app.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected here; your continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
