Privacy Policy for Sage Moments

This Privacy Policy explains how Sage Moments ("the App", "we", "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

1. Overview

Sage Moments is a personal wisdom collection app that curates timeless philosophy quotes and allows you to write personal reflections, react to wisdom, add your own quotes, and build a daily reflection streak. The App is designed with an offline-first approach: all personal data you enter is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• Account credentials or authentication tokens
• Device location or GPS coordinates
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral telemetry
• Advertising identifiers or tracking cookies
• The content of your reflections, reactions, or custom wisdom entries

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device using Android's DataStore, and is never sent to any external server:

• Personal Reflections: text you write in response to wisdom quotes, stored per quote ID
• Emoji Reactions: your selected emoji reaction per wisdom quote
• Favorites: IDs of wisdom quotes you have starred
• Custom Wisdom: wisdom quotes you have added yourself, including source, era, category, and personal context
• Daily Records: a log of which dates you completed the daily wisdom reflection (date strings only, no timestamps)
• Display Name: your optional name if entered during onboarding (stored locally, never transmitted)
• Recent Searches: up to 10 recent search queries (stored locally)
• Preferences: dark/light theme setting, stored via Android DataStore

All locally stored data remains under your full control. You may delete reflections or reactions individually via Settings → "Clear all reflections" / "Clear all reactions", or uninstall the App to remove all data.

4. Third-Party Services

The App does not communicate with any third-party services. All wisdom content is bundled within the App as an offline JSON asset. All functionality works without an internet connection. This section does not apply.

5. Permissions

The App does not request any runtime permissions. It functions entirely offline and does not require INTERNET, location, camera, microphone, or notification permissions.

The App does NOT request:

• Location (GPS, coarse, background)
• Camera or microphone
• Contacts or phone state
• Internet access
• External storage

6. No Advertising or Analytics SDKs

Sage Moments does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar), or third-party tracking libraries. There are no ads of any kind within the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App collects no personal information from any user, it is safe for use by all ages.

8. Data Security

Because all user-generated data is stored locally on your device, the security of that data depends on the security measures provided by the Android operating system and your device (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We do not control how Android handles on-device storage security, but we do not expose any data to external parties.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of this document bundled with a new App release. The date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
