Privacy Policy — Klear Phone
Effective date: 2026-04-16
This Privacy Policy applies to the Klear Phone app (the "Application") for mobile devices. Klear Phone is offered as a Freemium service.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Google account data — When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, given name, family name, profile picture URL, and phone number associated with your Google account.
- Contact data — If you choose to share your contacts to contribute to Global Caller ID, we collect the display name and phone number of each contact. This is entirely voluntary and requires your explicit consent. We do not collect contact photos, email addresses, or any other contact fields.
- Invite code — If you use or share a referral invite link, we store the associated referral relationship.
- Support messages — Content you submit via the Contact Support form. When reporting a bug, you may optionally allow us to include your device model, Android version, and app version to help diagnose the issue.
- Supporter name — If you choose to support the app via an in-app purchase and opt into public display, we store the name you provide to show it alongside your supporter badge.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Device operating system and version
- Pages and features of the Application you visit, and the time and date of your visits
- Time spent within the Application
- FCM token — A Firebase Cloud Messaging token is stored in your Firestore profile to deliver push notifications to your device.
- Phone number search history — Numbers you look up using the Phone Lookup feature are recorded server-side to power your monthly search report and to improve spam detection.
1.3 Information from Third-Party Integrations
- Telegram — If you connect the Klear Telegram bot, we receive and store your Telegram first name, last name, username, and language code.
- Call logs — The Application reads your device's call history to display recent calls, enable caller identification, and power Smart Call Suggestions (analyzing call frequency and recency to surface contacts you may want to reach). This data is processed locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
- Smart Call Suggestion feedback — When you interact with a suggested contact (call, send an SMS, dismiss the suggestion, or rate its helpfulness), that signal is stored locally on your device to improve future suggestions. This feedback data is never uploaded to our servers.
- Phone lookup queries — When you look up a phone number, that number is sent to Google Places API and Telegram's infrastructure. These lookups are subject to the privacy policies of Google and Telegram respectively.
- Spam reports & reactions — If you submit a spam or abuse report about a phone number, we store the phone number, the selected reason, your optional comment, and an optional emoji. We also store like/dislike reactions you submit on other users' reports. This data may be displayed to other users.
- Block activity — When you block a phone number, we record an anonymous block count for that number on our servers. Your identity is not associated with the block action visible to other users.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Application and its features
- Power the Global Caller ID feature — matching phone numbers against a community-contributed database of names
- Manage your token balance and reward activity (ad views, referrals, Telegram bot connection, contact contributions)
- Power the Phone Lookup feature — querying Google Places and Telegram to identify businesses and accounts associated with a phone number
- Generate your monthly search report — a count of unique phone numbers you searched during the month
- Power Smart Call Suggestions — analyzing call patterns entirely on-device to surface contacts you may want to reach
- Display community spam reports and reactions associated with phone numbers
- Track anonymous block counts per phone number to surface safety signals to other users
- Process in-app subscription and one-time purchases via Google Play Billing
- Send push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), if enabled in your settings
- Display your supporter name and badge publicly in the app's Support Me section, if you opted in
- Communicate important updates, notices, and relevant information
- Detect and prevent fraud and abuse
3. Global Caller ID & Contact Data
When you voluntarily share your contacts:
- We store the display name and phone number of each contact in our secure database (Firebase Data Connect, hosted on Google Cloud).
- This data is used solely to power the Global Caller ID feature within Klear Phone.
- Contact data is attributed to your user account internally to prevent duplicate entries, but your identity is never revealed to other users.
- Contact data is never sold or shared with external third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
- You may request deletion of your contributed contact data at any time by contacting us at dabalavay@gmail.com.
4. Who Viewed You — Phone Search Visibility
When a Klear user searches your phone number, that search is recorded to power the "Who Viewed You" monthly report.
4.1 What Is Recorded
- The searcher's Google display name and profile photo URL.
- The searched phone number and the month of the search.
- The date and time of the search.
- Whether the search was performed in Private mode.
4.2 What You See
- Basic+ subscribers: names, profile photos, and search times of non-private searchers.
- Free users: the count only — names and photos are blurred.
4.3 Private Search (Basic+ Feature)
When Private Search is enabled, the searcher's name and photo are not stored. They appear to you as "Anonymous User". Private searches still count toward your monthly viewer total. You can toggle Private Search directly on the Phone Lookup screen or in Settings → Privacy.
4.4 Data Retention
Monthly search records are retained for up to 12 months and then permanently deleted. The aggregated snapshot saved to your profile is overwritten each month.
5. Third-Party Services
The Application uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Google Play Services
- Google Sign-In
- Google Play Billing
- AdMob
- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Firebase Cloud Firestore, Data Connect & Cloud Messaging
- Telegram
- Google Places API
The Service Provider may share your information with third parties only:
- As required by law (e.g., to comply with a subpoena or government request)
- When necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of the Service Provider or users
- With trusted service providers operating on our behalf, bound by confidentiality obligations
5. Push Notifications
If push notifications are enabled, we store your FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) token in your Firestore profile to deliver notifications to your device. This token is device-specific and is automatically rotated by Firebase.
You can disable push notifications at any time in your device settings or in the app's Notifications screen. Disabling notifications stops future deliveries but does not automatically remove your FCM token from our servers. To request token deletion, contact dabalavay@gmail.com.
6. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase) in the European Union (europe-central2 region). The Service Provider implements physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your information. No method of electronic storage or internet transmission is 100% secure.
7. Data Retention
- Account and user data — retained for as long as you use the Application and for a reasonable period thereafter.
- Contact contributions — retained indefinitely to maintain Global Caller ID quality, unless you request deletion.
- Phone number search history — retained for up to 12 months to power monthly reports and spam detection, then automatically purged.
- FCM tokens — retained for as long as your account is active.
- Support messages — retained for up to 24 months for support and quality purposes.
To request deletion of your data, contact us at dabalavay@gmail.com.
8. Opt-Out & Data Deletion
You may stop all collection of information by uninstalling the Application. You can also:
- Revoke Telegram integration at any time by disconnecting the bot
- Disable push notifications in your device or app settings
- Request deletion of your contact contributions by contacting dabalavay@gmail.com
- Request full account deletion by contacting dabalavay@gmail.com
9. Children
The Application is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at dabalavay@gmail.com.
10. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Application after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Call Recording
Klear Phone includes an optional call recording feature powered by the Hust companion app.
- Local storage only — Call recordings are stored exclusively on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers or shared with us.
- Legal responsibility — Recording telephone calls may be subject to legal restrictions in your country or region, including requirements to obtain the prior consent of all parties before recording. It is your sole responsibility to determine whether call recording is lawful in your jurisdiction and to comply with all applicable laws.
- Consent obligation — By enabling call recording, you agree to inform all parties to a call that the conversation is being recorded, where required by law.
- Liability disclaimer — The Service Provider accepts no responsibility or liability for any unlawful use of the call recording feature, or for any consequences arising from your failure to obtain necessary consents.
