This Privacy Policy explains how Grove Journal ("the App", "we", "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this document carefully.

1. Overview

Grove Journal is a personal period and cycle tracker app. The App allows you to log menstrual flow intensity, physical symptoms, mood, and personal notes for each day; track cycle start and end dates; view predicted future cycle phases; and review statistical insights based on your logged data. The App is designed with an offline-first approach: all personal data you enter is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• Account credentials or authentication tokens
• Device location or GPS coordinates (the App does not request location permission)
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral telemetry
• Advertising identifiers or tracking cookies
• The content of your daily logs, notes, or cycle data

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device using Android's Room database and DataStore Preferences, and is never sent to any external server:

• Daily logs: date, flow intensity (none/light/medium/heavy), selected symptoms, mood emoji, and optional personal notes
• Cycle entries: cycle start dates, end dates, calculated cycle lengths, and period lengths
• Preferences: your optional display name, average cycle length setting, average period length setting, chosen app theme, and notification preferences

All locally stored data remains under your full control. You may delete individual log entries by swiping them in the Log tab, or clear all data at once via Settings → "Clear all data". Uninstalling the App removes all stored data permanently.

4. Third-Party Services

The App does not communicate with any third-party services. All functionality — including cycle prediction, symptom tracking, and statistical insights — works entirely offline. This section does not apply.

5. Permissions

The App requests the following permissions:

• `android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS` — to send optional daily reminders (Android 13+ only, only if you enable notifications in Settings). No notification content is transmitted externally.

The App does NOT request:

• Internet access
• Location (GPS, coarse, background)
• Contacts or phone state
• Camera or microphone
• SMS or call log access
• External storage read/write

6. No Advertising or Analytics SDKs

Grove Journal does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar), or third-party tracking libraries. There are no ads of any kind within the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The App contains no directed advertising and no in-app purchases.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App's functionality. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
