This Privacy Policy explains how Dusk Scout ("the App", "we", "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this document carefully.

1. Overview

Dusk Scout is a sleep cycle calculator that helps you find the optimal time to fall asleep based on your desired wake-up time. The App allows you to calculate sleep windows for 4, 5, or 6 sleep cycles; save wake-time presets; log your nightly sleep duration and quality; and view weekly sleep statistics and insights. The App is designed with an offline-first approach: all personal data you enter is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
• Account credentials or authentication tokens
• Device location or GPS coordinates
• Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioral telemetry
• Advertising identifiers or tracking cookies
• The content of your sleep logs or personal notes

3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device using Android DataStore, and is never sent to any external server:

• Sleep log entries: sleep time, wake time, sleep quality rating (1–5 stars), and optional short notes you enter after each night.
• Sleep presets: preset name and wake-up time you configure for quick access (e.g., "Workday 7:00 AM").
• Calculator settings: cycle length (default 90 min), average fall-asleep offset, and which cycle counts to display.
• App preferences: selected theme (Light/Dark/System), stored via Android DataStore Preferences.

All locally stored data remains under your full control. You may delete individual sleep log entries by swiping them in the History screen, delete presets from the Presets screen, or clear all data at once via Settings → Data → Clear sleep history / Clear presets. Uninstalling the App removes all data from your device.

4. Third-Party Services

The App does not communicate with any third-party services. All functionality works offline. This section does not apply.

5. Permissions

The App does not request any runtime permissions. It functions entirely offline and does not require INTERNET, location, camera, microphone, or notification permissions.

6. No Advertising or Analytics SDKs

Dusk Scout does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar), or third-party tracking libraries. There are no ads of any kind within the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App collects no personal information from any user, it is safe for use by all ages.

8. Data Security

Because all user-generated data is stored locally on your device, the security of that data depends on the security measures provided by the Android operating system and your device (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We do not control how Android handles on-device storage security, but we do not expose any data to external parties.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of this document bundled with a new App release. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
