Privacy Policy for Daily Bloom
Daily BloomApril 20, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Daily Bloom ("the App", "we", "our") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this document carefully.
1. Overview
Daily Bloom is a personal gratitude journal app that helps you build a daily habit of positive reflection. The App allows you to write daily gratitude entries (three things you are grateful for each day), track your bloom streak, browse your personal journal archive, and receive daily writing prompts. The App is designed with an offline-first approach: all personal data you enter — your journal entries, moods, preferences — is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Account credentials or authentication tokens
- Device location or GPS coordinates
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or behavioural telemetry
- Advertising identifiers or tracking cookies
- The content of your gratitude journal entries, reflections, or moods
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored only on your device using Android's SQLDelight database and DataStore, and is never sent to any external server:
- Gratitude entries: the text of your three daily gratitude items, optional reflection, mood indicator, and timestamps. Stored in a local SQLDelight database.
- Bloom streak: calculated from your entry history, stored locally.
- Prompt reactions: your emoji reactions to daily writing prompts, stored in DataStore.
- Preferences: focus area (Relationships / Career / Health / Creativity / All), preferred writing time (Morning / Evening / Flexible), theme (Light/Dark/System), font size — stored via Android DataStore.
All locally stored data remains under your full control. You may delete individual entries by swiping or via the detail view, or clear all data from the Settings screen. Uninstalling the App removes all data from your device.
4. Third-Party Services — Quotable.io
The App optionally retrieves inspirational quotes from the Quotable.io API, a free and open-source quotes service, to use as daily writing prompts. When the App fetches a quote (once per day), a standard HTTPS request is made to Quotable.io's servers. This request contains:
- A filter tag parameter (e.g., `tags=inspirational`) to retrieve a relevant quote.
- No personal data, device identifiers, user information, or journal content.
The retrieved quote is cached locally for the day and used as a writing prompt suggestion. If the API is unavailable, the App falls back to a built-in offline prompt bank — the App functions fully without internet access.
Quotable.io's own privacy policy governs how they handle API requests. We recommend reviewing it at quotable.io. The App does not share any user-generated content or device information with Quotable.io.
5. Permissions
The App requests the following permissions:
- `android.permission.INTERNET` — solely to fetch inspirational writing prompts from the Quotable.io API once per day. The App functions fully without internet access using its built-in offline prompts.
- `android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE` — to detect whether internet is available before attempting an API call, ensuring graceful offline fallback.
The App does NOT request:
- Location (GPS, coarse, or background)
- Contacts or phone book access
- Camera or microphone
- Storage read/write (beyond app-private storage)
- SMS, call log, or phone state access
- Notification permissions (no push notifications)
6. No Advertising or Analytics SDKs
Daily Bloom does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar), or third-party tracking libraries. There are no ads of any kind within the App.
7. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the App collects no personal information from any user, it is safe for use by all ages.
8. Data Security
Because all user-generated data is stored locally on your device, the security of that data depends on the security measures provided by the Android operating system and your device (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We do not control how Android handles on-device storage security, but we do not expose any data to external parties.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in an updated version of this document bundled with a new App release. The date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
