Crush is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (“App”). By using Crush, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use the App:

a. Information You Provide

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• Date of birth
• Gender
• Profile photo (optional) and up to six additional photos (optional)
• Optional social usernames (Snapchat, Instagram)
• Optional school name
• Hair color, eye color, and skin color (used to provide hints for anonymous crushes)

b. Location Information

If you allow location access, we use your location to power features such as Today’s Crushes and Live Location Search.

• Location may be tracked actively throughout the day when enabled
• Location history is stored for a maximum of 24 hours and then permanently deleted
• If location permissions are disabled, certain features will not be available

c. Automatically Collected Data

We use analytics and crash reporting tools to improve performance and user experience.

We do not intentionally collect or store IP addresses, device type, or operating system version for profiling or marketing purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Enable core app features (crushing, matching, and profile display)
• Operate and improve the App
• Provide hints for anonymous crushes
• Send push notifications about activity in your account
• Maintain the safety and integrity of the platform

We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Supabase – storage, analytics, and crash reporting
• AWS – secure data storage
• Email & phone collection – required to create an account (no verification)
• Push notifications – to alert you of new crushes and matches

These providers may process your data as necessary to perform their services.

4. Paid Features (Crush+)

Crush offers an optional paid subscription called Crush+ that unlocks additional in-app features.

Crush+ does not change the types of data we collect. Instead, it allows users to view additional profile attributes (such as hair color, eye color, skin color, and school) that are voluntarily provided by other users.

All data accessed through Crush+ is used solely for app functionality and is not shared with third parties.

5. Age Requirement

You must be 12 years or older to use Crush. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 12. If we become aware that a user is under 12, we will delete their account immediately.

6. Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the App’s settings page.

When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted immediately. We do not keep backups of deleted user data.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including secure storage on AWS and Supabase. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance.
