This Privacy Policy explains how the Rain Gauge Pro ("the App") handles your information. It is written in plain language.
If you use the App, you agree to this policy.
Quick summary
- We do not create user accounts.
- Your saved places are stored on your device. We do not see them.
- If you allow location access, we use it only to help you add your current place. We do not track your location in the background.
- To show rainfall, we send the coordinates of the place you view to our weather data provider so they can return rain data.
- Payments and subscriptions are handled by Apple (App Store). We receive your purchase status, not your card details.
- We receive anonymous analytics, usage and crash data to improve the App.
- You can delete saved places in the App and you can ask us to delete optional data we hold.
- We do not sell your data and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
What data we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. Here is what we may collect.
1) Saved places (locations)
- What: the name you give a place and its coordinates (latitude/longitude).
- Where stored: on your device. We do not see your list of places.
- Why: to show rainfall totals for the places you care about.
2) Location permission (optional)
- What: your current location only when you choose to add a place from your current position.
- We do not collect continuous location data. We do not track you in the background.
- You can turn location access off at any time in iOS Settings.
3) Weather requests
- What: when you open a place, the App sends the place’s coordinates to our weather data provider to fetch rainfall data.
- We do not send your name, email, or device ID with these requests.
- Providers: Rainbow Weather, Open-Meteo (we send coordinates so they can return the data).
4) Purchases and subscriptions
- What we receive: product you bought, purchase dates, and subscription status (active/expired).
- Who processes payment: Apple. We do not receive your card number or full billing details.
5) Analytics (optional)
- If you choose to share usage data with the developer, we receive simple, aggregated data such as screens viewed, taps, and time spent.
6) Crash reports (optional)
- If you opt in to share crash data (iOS setting), we may get crash reports to fix bugs.
7) Support messages
- If you email us, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply and solve your issue.
We do not knowingly collect names, home addresses, phone numbers, or other sensitive personal data.
Why we use your data
We use data to:
- Run the App and show rainfall totals for your places.
- Handle purchases and manage your subscription access.
- Fix bugs and improve performance.
- Understand which features are useful (only if you opt in to analytics).
Sharing your data
We do not sell your data. We share data only with:
- Apple (App Store): to process purchases and subscriptions.
- Weather data provider: we send coordinates to get rainfall data.
- Analytics / crash providers (if you opt in): to understand usage and fix issues.
- Law and safety: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or prevent fraud.
- Business changes: if we sell or merge the business, your data may transfer to the new owner under the same protections.
We require our providers to keep your data safe and use it only to deliver their services to us.
Storage and security
We use industry‑standard security to protect data. No method is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
Where data is stored: on your device and, for optional services, on our vendors’ servers in the EU, the US, or other regions.
International transfers
If data is moved to another country or region, we use safeguards allowed by law (for example, standard contract clauses) to protect it.
How long we keep data
- Saved places: on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
- Purchases: we keep receipt and access records as long as needed for the service, taxes, audits, and law.
- Analytics and crash data (if you opted in): kept only as long as needed for troubleshooting and improvement.
- Support emails: kept as long as needed to help you and for our records.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or limit use of your data.
How to use your choices:
- Saved places: delete them in the App.
- Location access: turn off in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- Analytics / crash sharing: do not opt in, or turn off in the App (if provided), or in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements on iOS.
- Subscription: manage in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on iOS.

We will respond as required by law. We may ask for proof that you are the account holder for security.
Children
The App is not for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you think a child gave us data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If the changes are important, we will show a notice in the App or update the date at the top. Please check this page from time to time.
