Privacy Policy

Capn Log ("Capn Log", "the app", "we", or "us") is a personal fishing

logbook. This policy describes, in plain terms, what information is and is

not involved when you use the app. Installing or using Capn Log means you

accept the practices set out here.

AT A GLANCE

Capn Log works offline and keeps your logbook on your own device. It has no

sign-up, no login, and never asks for your name, email, phone number, or any

other detail that identifies you personally. The only information that leaves

your device is a small amount of technical/analytics data tied to a device

identifier, described below.

1. WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Everything you create in Capn Log — logged catches, named spots, notes,

unlocked atlas species, earned awards, bookmarked tips, and your settings —

is written to local storage on your device only. This content is never

uploaded to us and is not visible to us. Clearing the app's data or

uninstalling the app permanently removes it.

2. WHAT WE COLLECT AUTOMATICALLY

Capn Log does not gather any information that you type or that names you as

an individual. While the app runs, a limited set of technical data may be

collected through your device, namely:

 • Device identifiers, including your device's Advertising ID and comparable

  app/device identifiers.

 • General diagnostic and usage signals such as app version, device model,

  operating-system version, and aggregate interaction events.

These identifiers are handled ephemerally: they are used only in the moment,

for the purposes in Section 3, and are not combined into any lasting profile

of you.

3. WHY THIS DATA IS USED

The limited technical data above is used solely to:

 a. keep the app's features running correctly;

 b. measure overall stability and usage in aggregate (analytics), so issues

   can be found and the app improved;

 c. guard against abuse and technical faults.

Capn Log does not show ads, does not use your data for personalized

advertising, and does not sell your data to anyone.

4. WHO ELSE MAY PROCESS IT

We do not sell or trade your information. A small amount of

technical/analytics data may be processed by trusted service providers (for

example, an analytics or attribution provider) strictly to deliver the

purposes in Section 3 on our behalf. They may use it only for that job. We

may also disclose information where the law or a valid legal request requires

it.

5. THE ADVERTISING ID

The app may read your device's Advertising ID for analytics and app

functionality. You remain in control of it at any time:

 • Android: Settings › Privacy › Ads (or Settings › Google › Ads) lets you

  reset the Advertising ID or delete it.

Changing or removing the Advertising ID does not stop Capn Log from working.

6. HOW LONG IT IS KEPT

Any technical/analytics data associated with your device is retained only as

long as needed for the purposes here and is automatically deleted within

90 days. Your logbook content, which lives on your device, remains there

until you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.

7. KEEPING IT SAFE

We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to the small

amount of data involved. No transmission or storage method is ever perfectly

secure, so absolute security cannot be promised.

8. CHILDREN

Capn Log is made for a general, adult audience and is not directed to

children under 13 (or the minimum age required where you live). We do not

knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child has used

the app in a way that involved their information, use the contact route in

Section 11 so it can be addressed.

9. YOUR CONTROLS

Because Capn Log does not hold information that identifies you, and because

your logbook stays on your device, the most meaningful controls are already

in your hands:

 • reset or limit the Advertising ID in your device settings (Section 5);

 • clear the app's data or uninstall it to erase your logbook.

Depending on your region, you may also have rights to access, correct, or

delete personal data; given the above, these are exercised directly through

the controls named here.

10. USERS AROUND THE WORLD

Capn Log may be used anywhere. Where limited technical data is processed, it

may be handled in a country other than yours. By using the app you understand

that such processing may take place consistent with this policy.

12. UPDATES

This policy may change over time. When it does, the "Effective date" above

will be updated, and continued use of Capn Log after that means you accept

the revised policy.
