Privacy Policy
YukiPrivacy Policy for Bandwidth Saver Pro Chrome Extension
Effective Date: April 7, 2025
Thank you for using Bandwidth Saver Pro (the "Extension"). This Privacy Policy describes how your information is handled when you use the Extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
1. Information We Collect and Store
The Extension needs to store minimal data locally on your device using the chrome.storage.sync
API to function correctly. This data includes:
- User Settings: The state of the toggles you select within the Extension's popup menu (e.g., whether image blocking, video blocking, lazy loading, or prefetch blocking are enabled or disabled).
- Disabled Domains List: A list of website hostnames (e.g., "example.com") that you specifically choose to exclude from the Extension's features using the "Disable on this site" button.
How chrome.storage.sync
Works: If you are signed into your Google Account in Chrome and have enabled synchronization, Chrome may automatically sync this stored data across your logged-in devices. This synchronization process is handled entirely by Google Chrome according to Google's privacy policy; the Extension itself does not initiate or manage this transmission.
Temporary Information Access:
- Current Tab URL: To enable the "Disable on this site" feature, the Extension's popup temporarily accesses the URL of your currently active tab when you open the popup. This is only used to identify the hostname (e.g., "example.com") to display it and potentially add it to the Disabled Domains List if you click the button [cite: uploaded:savebandwidth/popup.js]. The full URL is not stored.
2. How We Use Your Information
The information stored by the Extension (User Settings and Disabled Domains List) is used solely for the core functionality of the Extension:
- To remember your preferences across Browse sessions.
- To apply the blocking and lazy loading rules according to your chosen settings.
- To ensure the Extension's features do not run on websites you have explicitly added to the Disabled Domains List.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect or Transmit
The Bandwidth Saver Pro Extension does NOT:
- Collect, store, or transmit any Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Track your Browse history or activity across websites.
- Send any user settings, disabled domains list, or any other data to the developer or any third-party servers. All operational data stays within your browser or your browser's sync storage.
4. Declarative Net Request API
The core network blocking features (images, video, etc.) are implemented using Chrome's declarativeNetRequest
API. This API allows the Extension to tell Chrome which requests to block based on rules, without the Extension needing to read the content of network requests or your Browse activity. This is a privacy-preserving method for content blocking.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the Extension's description on the Chrome Web Store or through other appropriate means. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
