TaskRoket: Link Cleaner is a browser extension that removes tracking parameters (utm_*, fbclid, gclid and similar) from links when you copy them, save them as bookmarks or follow them, and can clean links that are already saved.
This policy explains, in plain language, what the extension does with your data. The short version: it does not collect anything, does not send anything anywhere, and keeps all of its settings on your own computer.
What the extension does not do
- It does not create an account, and there is no sign-in.
- It does not collect analytics, telemetry, crash reports or usage statistics.
- It does not send your browsing history, page addresses, bookmarks or settings to any server.
- It does not contain advertising, affiliate links or tracking pixels of its own.
- It does not read page content, passwords, form fields or keystrokes.
- It does not sell, rent or share data with third parties, because it has no data to share.
What is stored, and where
The extension saves its own settings in chrome.storage.local, inside your browser profile on your device:
- the list of tracking parameter names you want removed (and any wildcard prefixes);
- the switches for copy, bookmark, navigation and hash-fragment cleaning;
- the list of sites you excluded, where links are left untouched;
- a local counter: how many links and parameters were cleaned, per site, and when the last run happened.
This information never leaves the device. It is not synchronised to your Google account, and it is deleted together with the extension when you uninstall it. You can clear the counters or reset every setting from the options page at any time.
Permissions and why they are needed
- storage — to keep the settings and the local counters described above.
- bookmarks — to rewrite bookmarks you already saved so that they no longer contain tracking parameters. This only happens when you explicitly trigger it: the switch in the popup, the option in settings, or editing the parameter list. The extension never rewrites bookmarks on its own at install or startup.
- Access to website data (`<all_urls>`) — to see link addresses on the page you are viewing, so a link can be cleaned before it is copied or followed, and to run the "clean links on this page" action. Only the
hrefof links is read. Page text, images and form data are not read.
The extension does not use remote code. All of its code ships inside the package, which is a Chrome Web Store requirement for Manifest V3.
Bookmarks
Bookmark cleaning is a deliberate action. When you turn the bookmark switch on, or save a changed parameter list, the extension reads the URLs of your existing bookmarks, removes the tracking parameters from them and writes the shortened address back through the official chrome.bookmarks API. Titles, folders and the bookmark structure are not touched, and bookmarks without tracking parameters are left exactly as they are. Because the change is a normal bookmark edit, it can be reversed by editing the bookmark or restoring a browser bookmark backup.
Network activity
The extension makes no network requests of its own. It loads its interface and its 55 language files from inside the installed package. There is no backend, no API endpoint and no remote configuration.
Children
The extension is a general-purpose browser utility. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly process any personal data of anyone.
Changes to this policy
If the extension ever changes in a way that affects this policy, the new version will be published at this address before the change reaches users, and the date at the top will be updated.
